It usually tough to stop a team with a special guard running the show. A team with two guards can cause serious problems. In this article we look at some of the top guard duos in the State and even on trio.

[player_tooltip player_id='346856' first='Sy'monique' last='Simon'] and [player_tooltip player_id='248699' first='Brianna' last='Behn'] of Cardinal Mooney are two guards who are definitely a tough duo. Behn is that point guard who runs the show with great handles and a high basketball IQ. Behn gets everyone involved and she is fortunate to have so much talent around her. Simon plays the two primarily, but can handle the ball and initiate the offense as well. Simon is a smart ball player who knows how to get in position to score and has the ability to get others involved as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='346853' first='Janai' last='Jordan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='430261' first='Janie' last='Boyd'] of Providence is one of the toughest guard duos in the State. These two already have the chemistry and a great roster to play with. They made it to the State Semifinals in Lakeland and vow to return next high school season. Jordan can handle the rock, shoot the three, and score in the midrange. Boyd shoots the three well and uses the drive as scoring opportunities in the paint or getting to the freethrow line.

[player_tooltip player_id='633535' first='Alex' last='Gross'] and [player_tooltip player_id='221598' first='Trinity' last='Berry']of Ribault is another guard duo to watch this summer. Both are talented shooters who have a scorers mentality. They will force defenses to pick their poison. Gross is quick and has the ability to draw a lot of attention on the floor. Berry has put in the work and she is becoming one of the toughest players in the 2027 class. The two will learn to put it together and they will have a special supporting cast. They have a good chance to get to Lakeland , but will have to go through some tough teams, including Bishop Kenny.

[player_tooltip player_id='243907' first='Ashley' last='Martinez'], [player_tooltip player_id='243916' first='Victoria' last='Valle'], and [player_tooltip player_id='221657' first='Angelina' last='Deleon'] of Doral Academy might be the toughest trio of guards in the State of Florida. Valle attacks downhill and stresses defenses and Deleon does the same thing on the other side with the left. Martinez also plays a similar game. Having three guards on the team who can handle the ball, attack the defense, and shoot from the perimeter makes it hard on a defense and almost impossible to press. No surprise this group made it to the State semifinals.

[player_tooltip player_id='892014' first='Kelsey' last='Sharpe'] and [player_tooltip player_id='823892' first='Jadyn' last='Watts'] of Sickles will be a nice duo this year. They played with [player_tooltip player_id='214172' first='Beckham' last='Hockley'] last season and will now go at it as a duo in the back court. Sharpe is fast and can get to the rim and score and create for her teammates, and Watts is a young player who can put the ball in the basket from anywhere on the floor. It will be high energy seeing this duo on the floor and figuring it out this summer.
