Saturday, Prep Girls Hoops Indiana held its first ever Sophomore ID Camp to help identify and showcase several of the state's top Sophomores. With 84 prospects from the 2027 class in attendance, this provided an opportunity to see them compete head-to-head, as well as together, in a combination of 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. Below is a look at eight additional playmakers who I felt stood out when I had the chance to see them. We will have additional articles later this week highlighting every prospect who was in attendance.

Kayla is a fast, athletic guard. She has length, wiry strength, and she plays with a motor. She has solid ball skill and can create off the dribble, and she has an aggressive, attacking mentality. As she learns to change speeds and not always attack at 100 mph, I think it will help her see more openings and be a better multilevel scorer. Defensively, she does a nice job of using her length to get her hands in passing lanes, causing deflections/steals, plus she can use her developing strength to body ball-handlers and contain them.

Malika is one of the best guards in Indiana's 2027 class who much of the state hasn't seen yet. She has an athletic frame, length, and she moves well in all directions. She plays with a steady pace, but when she wants to turn it up, she has a different gear. Finding that urgency each possession could help her take over games this Winter for the Pirates. She can handle the ball, manage an offense, create offense, or knock down jumpers consistently. She can also defend multiple positions on the floor and cause problems at that end.

Maddison put together a really nice Freshman season for Adams, and she extended that into a solid Spring & Summer grassroots season. She has gotten a little stronger, she has some length, and she plays with some quickness. Maddison has really good ball skill, she plays with her head up scanning the floor, and she's a willing passer. She can also step outside and knock down an open rhythm jumper consistently. I really like her play as a traditional point guard, and if she brings that same urgency defensively, it will help her game.

Jayla has had a really strong Summer and Fall, and I'm excited to see how that translates this Winter. There are a number of really good, young guards at Pike, so it will be tough to find a lot of minutes, however I feel like she's the type who could impact a game whether she's on the floor for 5 minutes or 20 minutes. She is extremely long, fluid, and shifty. She is very crafty and creative offensively, and she's a gnat defensively who truly bothers opposing ball-handlers. Once she adds a little strength, watch out.

Speaking of Pike's young guard depth, Korinne was another who stood out during Saturday's action. She is a fairly strong, compact, low to the ground attacker. She lowers her shoulders, gets through the lane like a running back, absorbs contact, and either finishes or finds open teammates. She is definitely a creator who loves to play off the bounce, and she has the speed & quickness to give most defenders nightmares. As she makes her 3-point shot more consistent, watch out! Defensively, she is a pest on the ball and causes problems.

Kendal continues to improve each time I see her. She seems to definitely be putting in the time to work on her game. She has nice length, she's getting stronger, and she's pretty active and quick-footed. She does a nice job defensively of using her length and quickness on the ball, and she can create some turnovers off the ball as well. Offensively, she is a selfless passer, but she can also knock down an open rhythm jumper. Following some graduations, and I am curious to see what kind of role she plays for Mooresville this Winter.

Grace said she came straight from a college elite camp, but you couldn't tell with her energy and effort. She has gotten noticeably stronger, she's quick, fast, and somewhat bouncy, and she always seems to play with an outstanding motor. Her strength has helped her develop a very pure, smooth perimeter shot that always looks like it should go in. She is quick into her pull-up as well. For as effective of a scorer as she is, Grace can also play on the ball as a natural PG, create for others, and she is a really nice on-ball defender as well.

I first saw Mayzon during the Winter, and after watching her again on Saturday, she is the "biggest little problem" on the court. She's listed at 5'2, and I'm not convinced she's that tall. She is a feisty, quick, fast, and versatile point guard. She has nice ball skill, she gets gaps easily and she finds open teammates, plus she understands her size and doesn't force. She is extremely active, especially defensively, and can really bother opposing ball-handlers. She just always seems to be everywhere, under control, and very aware of situations.
