Bismarck Demons

It is that time of year, Preview Time! Fall sports are still going on but November will be here before we know it. A great way for basketball fans to pass the time is by reading Team Previews, learning about potential breakout players, and educating themselves on the teams from across the State.   The Demons had an excellent 2023-2024 season. They finished with a 19-8 record and a Second-Place finish at the State Tournament! Paige Breuer and Jersey Berg were named to the All-Tournament Team at State. Paige Breuer & Jersey Berg were also named to the All-State Team. Last but not least, Paige Breuer, Jersey Berg, and Raya Rood were named to the All-WDA Team. It certainly was a successful and historic season for the Demons. Other Returners   [player_tooltip player_id='517114' first='Taya' last='Fettig'] (2025) 5'6 – Taya brings athleticism and toughness to the team. She will be counted on to defend the other team's best guards. Taya is a tremendous athlete who won the State 800 and Mile championships last spring!!   [player_tooltip player_id='1050237' first='Taylor' last='Mayer'] (2026) 5'9” – Taylor brings a level of competitiveness that the Demons will depend upon for any team success this season. She has the ability to be a difference-maker on both ends of the floor.    [player_tooltip player_id='1050247' first='Kambree' last='Neumiller'] (2026) 5'9” - See comments below. Both Neumiller twins can be game-changers for the Demons this year. They are athletes with long wingspans that can create havoc in the front of the press. They also put in a lot of time and have the ability to score in transition or in the half-court. Both will be needed to be major contributors.    [player_tooltip player_id='1050250' first='Opal' last='Sorenson'] (2026) 5'10” - Has improved a lot throughout the last few seasons. She will compete for meaningful minutes.    [player_tooltip player_id='1050251' first='Maddie' last='Vanderlinden'] (2026) 5'9” - She will compete for meaningful minutes.    [player_tooltip player_id='1050260' first='Grace' last='Neumann'] (2027) 5'8” - Great feel for the game and is rapidly improving. "Last year's team made a run to the State Title Game, falling to Fargo Davies. It was an amazing season, winning some major matchups throughout the way. We had a great group of seniors that led our team in so many different ways. They will be huge losses and difficult to replace especially early in the season."    PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?   "Our summer went well. We played in multiple team camps with different levels. We gelled as a team and found ways to play effective basketball. I think our girls found roles and established some leadership this summer. Our girls also put time into skill building and in the weight room."    PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for? PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for in the near future? PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?   "We typically press and play fast. Last year we slowed it down a little due to our skillset. This year, I think we will have to ramp it back up and play at a faster pace of play."    PHD: Who do you think will be your top defender?   "[player_tooltip player_id='517114' first='Taya' last='Fettig'] will be counted on to defend the other team's best perimeter players. She is a good athlete who takes on the challenge." "Our primary goal is to get better each day. We have to replace a lot from last year's team. We have the girls to do it, but it will take some time. Secondly, we will strive to be a top 4 team in the west and make a return trip to the State Tournament."    PHD: Who are a couple of your top shooters?
