Taking a look at Class 6a District 1. Among the top two favorites I would have to put Edmond Memorial and Mustang. Both teams return many pieces of their state tournament runs from last year. I feel 3-6 will be between Norman North, Yukon, PCO and Deer Creek as all four are young or need players to step up. Southmoore and US Grant round out the 7-8 as both are young and just have too much inexperience. Again these are just my thoughts and as we all know you have to play the game. Best of luck to all team. X @coachjvick1 IG @coach_jvick

Edmond Memorial (23-4) State Semi Finals) The Lady Bulldogs bring back the main pieces of last years State Semi Finals run last season. Edmond could probably have highest rated 1-2 punch. [player_tooltip player_id='309983' first='Janiyah' last='Williams'] the Oregon commit and [player_tooltip player_id='315217' first='Avery' last='Hjelmstad'] the Utah commit. Quick guards [player_tooltip player_id='315187' first='Auhnesty' last='Hawkins'] and [player_tooltip player_id='556047' first='Brooklyn' last='Aska'] round out the backcourt. Edmond always has a tradition of having a freshman or two step up during the season as well. Good amount of veteran players returning to go along with great coaching could have the Lady Bulldogs in the hunt come March

Mustang (20-8) State Quarterfinals Mustang returns great guard play from last seasons State Quarterfinals team. The Lady Broncos return to key players in [player_tooltip player_id='551215' first='Cherish' last='Haywood'] who has committed to Radford University and Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='396323' first='Mya' last='Alston'] who is coming off a great summer season. Mustang has plenty of depth on its bench as well. One player I saw was 5'10 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='918266' first='Paige' last='Fulmer']. Coach Bass expects her team to bring it every night on both ends of the floor. The Lady Broncos has the players needed to a possible return to state.

Yukon (20-8) Area Yukon will look to replace their leading scorer form last year as they push for another 20 win season. Shooter Keniea Jefferson could be just that player. A 3 point shooter who showed last year she can stroke the outside shot. Last season against Deer Creek she knocked down 7/10 behind the arch. Shooter [player_tooltip player_id='952414' first='Ashley' last='Cox'] returns from injury the past two seasons making Yukon a team not to over look in the district.

Norman North (10-14) Norman North who missed the state tournament last season after making it in 22-23 will rely on its two D1 signees. [player_tooltip player_id='309986' first='Seleh' last='Harmon'] the Pepperdine commit can score in many ways and play 1-4 positions on the court. [player_tooltip player_id='310158' first='Olivia' last='Watkins'] is a tall forward that can shoot the outside shot as well score inside if needed. The Siena commit can be a hard match up for some teams. [player_tooltip player_id='525660' first='Mackenzie' last='Clouse'] is a solid point guard and athlete as she has committed to OU for soccer. Harmon and Watkins will need someone to step up and help with the scoring if Norman North is to make a serious run this season.

Putnam City (10-15) I thought PCO took great steps last season and by the end of season had some identity as a team. Coach is going to have them up pressing the ball and no doubt they are going to hustle for 32 minutes. Ileeya Combs showed great growth last season on offense and defense. Quick point guard Pashintz Booker was impressive int he games I saw her play this summer. [player_tooltip player_id='1263781' first='Promise' last='Wright'] looks to return from injuries which give the Lady Pirates a deep shooting threat. Putnam City is looking to take the program another level and Coach Young will have them fighting for that pride night in night out.

Deer Creek (7-19) A young team that could be the dark horse in this district. They have great size inside with Auriana Radinovac and [player_tooltip player_id='804176' first='Laila' last='Willoby-Taylor'] that can score inside and protect the rim. Deer Creek also return all district guard play in [player_tooltip player_id='654577' first='Kayleigh' last='Steele'] and [player_tooltip player_id='751183' first='Darien' last='Johnson']. Freshman move in Nadia Taylor a lighting quick guard should help push the tempo for the Lady Antlers. Deer Creek talent is young and should gain valuable experience before playoff time comes around. A team that could wins some games in district to make it interesting towards the end of season.

Southmoore (4-20) Southmoore took heavy hits this upcoming season with graduation and transfers. Southmoore will be looking for players to replace those losses. Southmoore is in a complete rebuild and time will tell who takes advantage of their playing opportunity.

US Grant (4-19) Tough district for US Grant to be in this season. Coach Griffin does an amazing job with the players and will have them ready to go come game time.
