This is the season that we find out if [player_tooltip player_id='880901' first='Abbajay' last='Peters'] is "that" player at the PG position. Peters is coming off of a successful freshman campaign with her Waukee High School team and she is ready to follow that up with another eye-opening run. Peters checks off a lot of boxes that college coaches have for the next level. I think her best ability is how athletic she is. It's second to none. That, along with knowledge of the game and some skill, makes her a tough player to contain. I hope that's on full display over these next few months like it has been. If she continues on this pace, she should be receiving a lot of interest from the next level before you know it.

[player_tooltip player_id='595154' first='Brenna' last='Johnson'] of Westwood High School and Swarm AAU Basketball is going to be a player we continuously hear more and more about until she graduates with her mixture of size and production. Johnson is a force in the middle. Someone who can kill it with her back to the basket on either block or she can work from the midrange and get downhill going towards the basket. Defensively, she can wall up and be physical or she can step-out and hold her own away from the basket. She is definitely someone that you have to worry about while attacking or else she is going to alter the attempt in some way.

Last year at State we had the chance to see [player_tooltip player_id='1100896' first='Maura' last='Ryan'] of CB - St. Albert High School compete on their way to a 1A State Title. Ryan was surprisingly good. Not to someone in my position as a scout but in general, other team's were not expecting Ryan to kill it as much as she did but it makes sense. She has coordination, she is shifty, she has fast feet, quick reflexes, and she moves effortless on or off of the ball. I expect the Saints to give the 1A Class another run for their money this upcoming Winter and Ryan is going to be a crucial part to that success, if they do end up replicating it once again.

From what I'm hearing about [player_tooltip player_id='1201513' first='Ali' last='Aguirre'], she should step onto the Varsity floor and make an instant impact this Winter with her Ankeny squad. Aguirre has size, agile movement, coordination, and physicality. Not to mention, she possesses an ample amount of skill on both sides of the basketball. She has the ability to impact any contest at a high rate because of her natural build, along with her soft touch, and situational awareness. We should get our first look at Aguirre in a Hawks uniform this next week. If she proves to be someone that can back all the hype, then Ankeny will have another star on their hands for years to come. Even after [player_tooltip player_id='342205' first='Jayla' last='Williams'] graduates next Spring.
