Let's take a look at five unranked players who had great summer season. Remember these names as many played valuable minutes as freshman but will now be asked to step it up as sophomores. All of these players are currently unranked, but are players that have what it takes to have a big impact for their schools this year as their teams.
The unranked combo guard consistent performance throughout the summer has earned her spot among this list of players. A guard that brings all 3 phases to the game. First is the outside shot. Good footwork on the catch with a nice smooth follow through. Second is the aggressive downhill attacks of poor close outs getting to the rim. Lastly reading the defense making good decisions on the kickouts to the open teammate.

Jada has made the transfer from Bixby to Holland Hall for the upcoming season. She brings solid guard play that will be counted on as Holland Hall had a talented graduation class last season. Keep an eye on 2028 as I would put her among the stock risers in the unranked group.

A combo guard that got more productive as the summer went on which is what you want for 2028. Starting in early season with PGH Big Friendly and finishing with the MAYB Nationals I saw an aggressive guard that got downhill and finished at the rim. Nice outside shot from 3-point range. Always moving without providing an option for the kick out. Good handles on the open floor that was patience waiting for the lane to open before attacking the gap not forcing the issue.

The productive games, consistent work in the gym and the striving to get better each time she touches the floor adds Dakota to this list of standouts.

If you need a quick guard that can turn defense to offense [player_tooltip player_id='1252320' first='Sophia' last='Beltran'] is your guard. Impressive showing at 1-35 Showcase in Kansas caught my attention landing her on this list of standouts. A scrappy guard that hunts down those steals eighter on the pass or just hustli9ng for that tip behind the play, Good defensive rebounder that finds the opening for the board staring at her own fastbreak.

A good outside shooter that keeps the defense honest which opens the driving lanes for her. Good vision on the drives reading the defense matching the right passes to the open teammate. I do not know what Victory has post wise, but they do have a good group of young guards. Sophia being one of those guards.

I had the opportunity to watch Lexi JYD team at several events this summer. What stood out the most was the finishes around the rim. When many kids are missing those bunnies, Lexi has great hands and squares up on the catch for the bucket. I did like the way she gets out on the breaks filling the lanes ready for the kick up pass. Good movement on finding the shooters gaps on the wings for the 3-pointer.

Lexi summer team had a very strong run this past summer Lexit being a big part of that team. The combo guard will need to step up this season as Rejoice Christian will her scoring. A strong summer circuit and more scoring needed by her school lands Lexi on the list of rising sophomores.

A consistent shooter in the three events I had the opportunity to watch this summer. A shooter with range on the catc no wind up needed. Impressive was the step back foot work to create little more space to shoot the jumper. A scrappy player on both ends of the floor that did not mind getting physical for a 50/50 ball.
