Riverside High School had the task of taking on the #1 rated Class 1A team that the state of Iowa in St. Albert moving into Thanksgiving break. In the end, St. Albert took care of business and dominated the contest but someone for Riverside, who produced at a noticeable rate was SG - Fenner. Fenner finished the contest with 4 Points, 11 Rebounds, 2 Assists, & 2 Steals - making her mark in every positive statistical category. This is a player that knew coming into this season that she was going to have to do some work if she wanted her team to win against some tough opponents and so she went out in game 1 to do that. The most surprising stat from this contest for Fenner is rebounding. She may only stand at 5'4 but she has a high motor with a relentless edge. She demonstrated that first hand to kick off their Winter. Now hopefully she can build onto that moving forward into game 2 as they take on another noteworthy team in Exira-EHK. This is currently another matchup against a Top 10 rated team, that won't be for the faint of heart.

[player_tooltip player_id='342205' first='Jayla' last='Williams'] and Ankeny High School (1-0) will invite in DSM Christian (2-0) on Monday for a tough matchup between two undefeated teams. The Lions will look to build on their 2-0 start, pushing the pace, making the Hawks feel the pressure with their consistent defensive pressure. In rebuttal, the Hawks will follow the leadership that is their star player in Williams, hoping she can lead the group to the promise land. Williams, the WBB Creighton commit, had a solid showing to kick off her Senior season against Ames but she will need some others to step up around her if their team wants to take things to the State Tournament come 2026. This Lions team will be a great test for the Hawks early on in their season. Williams is going to do her thing and produce in multiple ways, now it just comes down to if the rest of the team can execute.

[player_tooltip player_id='833967' first='Deidra' last='Doeden'] had a convincing showing in her Cherokee Washington High School team's first game of the season when she posted a 20 points, double-double in points-rebounds (22 & 11). Doeden, the 6'1 Center, is a force to deal with in the between the blocks if you couldn't tell. If you look at the program she is in and who they have to play during their regular season, you notice that Doeden should CLEAN up against the individuals that will try to stand in her way. She will be the biggest, she will be the most physical, she will be the strongest. Those three things will carry her and her team to a lot of success for the rest of her high school career. Not to mention, this group also possesses one of the best guards within their conference in 2027 - [player_tooltip player_id='832197' first='Addy' last='Wolfswinkel'] so to try to stop both is going to be really tough but #9 -Emmetsburg will look to do just that on Tuesday evening when they face off against the Braves.

One of the best games of Week 2 comes to us in Iowa City on Tuesday night when CCA travels down the road to take on the Trojans. The key for this game is going to come down to personal and I'm not sure how the Clippers are going to stop [player_tooltip player_id='981151' first='Abby' last='Neumiller'] at the F/CG position for the Trojans. Neumiller stands right around 6'0 and she is a coordinated threat on both sides of the ball. She might not score the most points all the time but she has her moments. If you leave her alone next to the hoop or with a smaller defender on her she is going to make easy work of it. Neumiller is ALWAYS a rebounding threat, while being a better than average passer off the bounce or out of the post when she is double-teamed off the catch. There will be 5-6 future college players on the floor in this game at one time so it's going to be fun to see who steps up and who shows out in the moment.

Assumption came out on first against Fort Madison High School in their first contest of the year. They were dishing out assists in the boatload, hitting shot after shot from deep, and turning up the temperature with their strategic play. Someone that stood out as source of production in most categories was PG - [player_tooltip player_id='1451154' first='Gabby' last='Stoffregen']. Stoffregen is someone that shows up in multiple ways throughout a ball game. She will get everyone involved offensively, she rebounds, and she can score it herself off the dribble. Assumption will go on the road to take on #11 Pleasant Valley to end their week. This game should be a good one as it will be a guard-heavy lineup against a post-heavy lineup so whoever executes their assignments at a high rate, should come out with a victory but we will see.
