Yesterday I took a look at four of the most interesting games, in my opinion, on Thursday Night. Here is a recap of what happened:

Stevens Point (68) at E.C. Memorial (57)---What I thought might happen: I see the depth of SPASH being too much for Memorial to handle. I think the development of sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='936786' first='Leah' last='Awe'] (6-2, 8.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.9 bpg) will be the difference in the victory.

What actually happened: The Dynamic duo of junior [player_tooltip player_id='764935' first='Jada' last='Seubert'] (31 points/16 rebounds/4 assists) and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='936786' first='Leah' last='Awe'] (21 points/6 rebounds) proved to be too much for the Old Abes to handle with SPASH pulling off an impressive opening game victory, over Memorial, for the second straight season. [player_tooltip player_id='1173395' first='Norah' last='Kling'] led Memorial with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Both these teams with have to navigate brutal Sectional one but have the horses to make a run to state and could meet in March.

Hortonville (62) at West De Pere (51)---What I thought might happen: I think the Polar Bears start the post-Welson era off with a bang getting a hard fought road victory over the Phantoms.

What actually happened: Hortonville started off the post-Welson era on the right foot. Hortonville took a 5 point halftime lead at 31-26 and held off the Phantoms to take the 62-51 victory behind [player_tooltip player_id='533074' first='Kardyn' last='Peppler']'s 20 points with 12 coming from 3. Madi Springer chipped in 11 and [player_tooltip player_id='842218' first='Julieyn' last='Martin'] added 10. West De Pere was led by [player_tooltip player_id='893991' first='Clara' last='Hoffman']'s 13 points.

Xavier (66) at Laconia (51)---What I thought might happen: I believe Laconia wins this game but Xavier will keep it close with the Spartans ultimately winning.

What actually happened: Wow I blew this prediction! I waffled back and forth between who I thought might win. Although the Hawks had more veterans coming back, I thought the home court would make a difference but not in this case. Xavier looks locked and loaded to make another run to the Resch Center. They were led by Hailey Hafner's 18 with [player_tooltip player_id='766619' first='Joy' last='Krull'] adding 17. [player_tooltip player_id='842233' first='Marissa' last='Johnson'] scored 16 for the Spartans with [player_tooltip player_id='764914' first='Finley' last='Morgan'] adding 12

Bay Port (34) at Appleton East (64)---What I thought might happen: This will be another close game similar to last season and may even go into overtime. I think the fact that the Patriots are at home and Bay Port possibly being without emerging big [player_tooltip player_id='874389' first='Kailynn' last='Thompson'] makes the difference with East pulling out the victory.

What actually happened: East jumped all over Bay Port opening the game on a 10-0 run en route to a 31-17 halftime lead and a 64-34 final. I'm not sure yet what the shooting percentage was, from 3, but the Patriots were on fire connecting on 14 for the game. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='749048' first='Ella' last='Sweeney'] led all scorers with 22 including 4 three-pointers. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='904623' first='Emilia' last='MontMarquette'] continued her hot start adding 18 with 12 of those points coming from long distance. Bay Port was led by [player_tooltip player_id='874380' first='Olivia' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='736760' first='Melia' last='Lemorande'] with 12 each. The absence of [player_tooltip player_id='874389' first='Kailynn' last='Thompson'] is noticeable but I think Bay Port will be in good shape when she gets back in the lineup.
