She made threes off the catch and shoot but also created space when she was covered tightly with a step back off the dribble. On the possession change she sprinted the floor for the catch and finish with contact.

Sometimes you need gradual heat so that you can get acquainted to the temperature change. Morgan is one of those players that get warmer and warmer as the game goes on. She led all scorers with 11 of her 20 points coming in the fourth quarter. Her mid-range game was red hot as she made all her field goals from inside the arc.

Nyair had her defense fired up from the opening tip. She had multiple steals in the backcourt, several off the inbound pass. She made every ballhandler uncomfortable and was the main reason Stewart only had 20. She had to fight through screens on almost every possession as the Cadets tried every tactic imaginable to get her off the ball handler. She had her hand at some point in all of the Mustangs 59 points while scoring 15 points on her own.

I visited an open gym before the start of the season and saw one of the McNamara coaches working with Tegan on her free-throws. At that point the form and accuracy both needed tweaking and reps. Now for the results, in the heated part of the game Tegan stepped to the line and nailed both free throws calmly and with perfect form for the lead. She is evidence that the process works if you stick to it.

Camille kept things hot in the post. She was able to turn and face in the post and use her speed and length to get to the basket in one dribble. She also used an effective drop step to get what she wanted. She finished with 9 points but was able to score on almost all of her touches inside. She could have been used a little more when the game was tight or when the Cadets had the lead. Of course it's easy to state the obvious after the fact. The rematch should be interesting.
