A lot of three balls were likely flying during round 1- from Miami to Jacksonville, and there are some "stone-cold" snipers who can shoot the daylights out of the ball, and we will save that story for a little bit later. Across Florida's regional playoffs, several players didn't just compete- they held it down and led the way. In this article we take a look at some forwards and post players who converted on the blocks, executed in the paint, and let their team to a trip to the next round.

[player_tooltip player_id='972357' first='Jayla' last='Griffin'] and "playoff-paint production" are synonymous this time of the year. No one explodes in the paint the way Griffin does, and no one has the athleticism that Griffin displays. From pull-up jumpers to drives, no one destroys that area of the floor more than Griffin. She can get their with the dribble, off the catch, and off the glass. Griffin provided an heroic effort in last year's playoffs and will likely have to duplicate and exceed that effort to reach the promise land this year.

The "Real" [player_tooltip player_id='514521' first='Brie' last='McCoy'] showed up and let Creekside to a Victory in Round 1 of the FHSAA playoffs. McCoy is a beast on the blocks and especially when she gets the ball to her dominant hand on the left. With the losing team going home, McCoy was not ready to end her high school career. The Senior power forward pulled down 10 boards and also scored 17 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='912251' first='Ella' last='Crowe'] poured in 20 points (9 points from behind the arc) and lot of her round 1 production came inside the paint. Crowe is a versatile player who plays the 2, the 3, and even the 4 at times and knows how to put the ball in the basket. She can score on the outside, and she is very comfortable, attacking the rim and scoring in the paint. Crowe is a work-horse player who finds ways to win. She crashes the floor, drives to the rim, scores in the mid range, and also scores points off of offensive rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='515102' first='Madilyn' last='Ray'] recorded a double-double with 14 point and 14 rebounds proving that she is one of the most dangerous players in a loser goes home scenario. Ray can score in the paint and facilitate with the best of forwards in the State. Ray can also handle the ball quiet well in the offensive set at 6'3", and that ability helps her teams break presses and get the ball across half-court. On the defensive end, Ray is an elite paint protector, averaging 6 blocks per game. She could make it very interesting against Booker T Washington with her size and her ability to defend the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1117347' first='Seven' last='Gourdet'] gave a valiant effort in round 1, showing why she is one of the top young power forwards in the area. Gourdet's team didn't prevail, but the Sophomore made it clear that she belongs in the conversation for top 2028 power forwards on the First Coast. She led her team with 7 rebounds, including some put backs late in the second half. Gourdet is an athletic and powerful forward and she does most of her damage in the paint. She runs the court well, snags balls out of the air with her excellent hands, and converts in the paint and consistently through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='873952' first='Ellie' last='Bross'] has great length and skill and she gave Cardinal Mooney fits in Round 1 of the playoffs in defeat. Bross connected on 4 three pointers and also did damage in the paint. She killed it in the mid-range area and also finished consistently around the rim. In addition to scoring inside, Bross produces in the paint with defense and on the boards. Davis is a beast on the offensive glass and has a very good put-back game. She can go left or right and finishes at an elite level with the left. She attacks the rim, runs the floor well, and gets a lot of points in the painted area. In round 1 of the playoffs, Davis posted 28 points - a career high and a lot of that output is as a result of her production in the painted area of the court.
