Once said camp concludes, the transition to July's grassroots slate begins. Considering how South Carolina has become hallowed ground in women's basketball circles, the Gamecocks team camp can be a big deal for many a high school prospect.

There were plenty of names that brought their balling shoes with to Colonial Life Arena, the old Carolina Coliseum and the courts at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center. Those names look to translate that momentum into strong finishes to the club season.

Dates has become one of the most sought-after prospects in the Palmetto State – and the nation. Not only did she depart from South Carolina's camp with a solid outing, she made headlines when she landed an offer from coach Staley herself. Dates has secured a large number of Division I offers including from Purdue, Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and Florida since the season ended – and what a campaign it was for Goose Creek. Dates led her Gators to a 25-3 record and a berth in the Lower State championship game. She played in all 28 games while averaging 20 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 steals per matchup.

Whenever one hears the phrase “Z for Three,” it typically means trouble for the team and coaching staff on the opposing bench. Sims is one of the most proficient 3-point sharpshooters in the state and that prowess from distance was once again on full display at Dawn Staley's camp. With June's camp month having arrived and left, Sims is set to resume her AAU schedule with BBB Elite 17U. Last season, Sims' Spartanburg team finished 19-9 (7-7 in a tough Region 2-AAAAA). Competing in all 28 of the Vikings' contests, Sims averaged 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals per contest.

Colonial Life Arena was very kind to McCray and her Berkeley team back in March as it was where she and her Stags defeated Greenville in a 54-50 decision to repeat as 5A Division 2 state champions. She had a very busy schedule to finish the month as coach Crystal Peace's Stags took part in team camps at both South Carolina and Coastal Carolina in late June. Her ability to make things happen as both a combo guard and a small forward is a major reason why she recently landed an offer from Spartanburg Methodist. McCray played in all 28 games last season while averaging nine points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

In addition to basketball, Brooks also competes in track and field where she is putting extra emphasis on the shot put. Brooks and her West Florence team had a solid weekend at South Carolina's camp and is looking ahead to the upcoming season where the Knights will make their return to the 4A ranks after a pair of seasons competing in 5A. Following her freshman season in West Florence green and gold, the six-foot big will look to solidify the Knights' frontcourt over the next several seasons. West Florence is in search of its first winning season since 2021-22 and having a solid young frontcourt force such as Brooks will help greatly in that objective.

Gibson was one of two from the class of 2030 that earned roster spots on last year's Dutch Fork team that made a run to the Upper State semifinals of the 5A Division 1 state tournament. She would compete in all 24 games for a Silver Foxes bunch that finished last season with a record of 18-6 and only dropped one of its 10 region contests. Gibson is a talented young guard that understands finishing at the rim, connecting from range, making tough shots and getting out in transition to make plays. With Gibson in Dutch Fork colors, one can expect the Silver Foxes to once again be among one of the 5A field's most dangerous of teams.

When a rising seventh grader manages to play up in class on her grassroots team and garner plenty of minutes, said rising seventh grader is a name to watch. We at Prep Girls Hoops first got a glimpse of Flemming during the Big Shots Memorial Day Classic at the Rock Hill Sports & Events Center and she continued her stellar play this past weekend at the South Carolina camp. After a stint with [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'], Flemming was recently announced as having joined FBC United 2032. Considering the history of talent that has emerged from Heathwood Hall, Flemming could be the next Highlander to establish a massive profile.

Crawley is putting herself firmly in the conversation of standout names from the Palmetto State's 2031 class. Her SCISA 4A Heathwood Hall team competed in four games this past weekend at Dawn Staley's camp, and she averaged 15.8 points in those contests. Crawley also managed to display plenty of prowess as a rebounder. As June transitions to July, she will look forward to finishing the 2026 grassroots season in a Palmetto 76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite uniform. She is scheduled to participate in Nike's EYBL Session 3 in Las Vegas then at the Nike Nationals in Chicago at the conclusion of the month.
