That is when the annual South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA) Live event takes place. A large number of teams once again converged on Riverview Park for the festivities and among the attendees was current Gamecocks rising junior star Joyce Edwards who previously won a pair of 3A state championships at Camden.

Friday would be the busiest day of the three-day event. We begin our post-SCBCA Live coverage by spotlighting a few of the standout rising seniors from the day's play.

Gerald is entering her senior season at 5A Dutch Fork and she is more than poised to ensure that swan song campaign puts an exclamation point on her high school career. Her Friday morning at Riverview Park commenced with a dominant performance against defending 5A Division 1 champion Blythewood and she helped the Silver Foxes' cause with 27 points. Gerald plays with a heads-up attitude at all times. This displays itself on the defensive end where she can switch her defensive assignments on the fly and use her length to deflect her opposing team's passes. Offensively, she is a consistent threat to take – and make – her 3-point attempts. Gerald averaged 10 points, six assists, 4.7 steals and 4.3 rebounds in 24 games last season.

Moore is one of those “blink and you may miss her” type of names. Not only is she difficult to game plan against because of her talent, but she is also hard to contain because of the speed, quickness and agility she possesses. Moore does not shy away from tough shots, and she can arrive from seemingly out of nowhere to come away with big defensive plays that can turn into additional offensive possessions. Regardless of what a defense can throw at her; she will find attacking lanes to the rim and can either finish strong at the cup or dish the rock to an open teammate.

Harry is one of several 2027s returning for 5A Lexington a year after coach Molly Goodrich's team advanced to last season's 5A Division 1 Lower State championship game. She does not leave much breathing room between herself and who she is guarding on defense and fuses together skills with veteran instincts and leadership skills. Harry is an efficient runner of the floor who maintains a high degree of activity even with the ball out of her hands and has no issues drawing contact that can place her at the free throw line. Harry averaged 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.8 steals for the Wildcats last season in the 24 games she played.

Sims is entering her senior season at 5A Spartanburg following a junior campaign that would see her average 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals per contest. One of the Vikings' contests that day would see Sims' team match up against Chapin. As the contest wore on, Sims began finding her groove from distance as she would connect on a pair of 3-point attempts. She also displayed her playmaking capabilities on the defensive end as she managed to come in from seemingly out of nowhere to come away with steals. Sims has played her final travel season with Carolina All In 17U.

After a pair of seasons where Seneca competed in the 4A ranks, the Bobcats are set to return to 3A beginning with the upcoming season. One can place Floyd in a team's starting five as either a two guard or at the point. The ability to attack and convert on high-percentage shots is central to her game but a 3-point shot is part of her overall offensive repertoire. Floyd is also a super ball distributor who understands when to score and when to pass. She would play in all 27 games last season while averaging 11.9 points, 5.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. Floyd was one of five 2027s on last season's Seneca team.

The Landsharks of 3A Oceanside Collegiate have been among the winningest of teams over the last several years and Black looks to make sure that continues as she enters her senior season. The 5-foot-10 Landsharks standout is a multi-sport athlete who also plays lacrosse in addition to her basketball achievements. With that height and with her build, one would expect her to exclusively be a frontcourt force but her versatility is what makes her an intriguing prospect. Even though she can score from deep, she is unselfish and wants to get her teammates involved in the flow of a game. Black was one of only two juniors on last season's Landsharks roster.

We at Prep Girls Hoops got a glimpse of Paniagua earlier this month at the A1 Hoops Shootout at Northside Christian. Paniagua continued her solid play on Friday at Riverview Park. She can play defense with her hands outstretched particularly in iso situations. When seeing how accurate Paniagua is from behind the 3-point line, one can see why she is in 5A White Knoll's lineup as a shooting guard. In addition, Paniagua can get herself in the right spots near the rim to grab rebounds. That accuracy from deep can also throw defenders for a loop when Paniagua decides to drive to the rim. Paniagua nearly led the Timberwolves to a come-from-behind victory over 4A Eastside on Friday evening.
