EYBL League Leaders From Iowa At Nike Nationals

This morning EYBL action begins at McCormick Place in Chicago to determine who will win the 13U-17U National Championships for 2026. Prior to this event, the media team for Nike sent out a fantastic guide for all other media members. This guide included ample amount of information, including the league leaders for each grade level, who has won the National Title in the past for each level, along with much, much, more.   In this article we discuss some of the players that were highlighted out of the state of Iowa, moving into this weekend of action! If you are in the building over the next few days, make it a priority to check these girls out because they have all been playing at a National level this AAU season and they are ready to finish it out on a high note!   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    Rebounds Per Game: 7.6   Ella Subbert has been a Top Five rebounder on the EYCL 17U circuit all season long near the bucket. Subbert is a tall and talented SF, who is getting attention from all corners of the Country at this time within the recruitment process. The 17U EYCL team for AIA won this EYCL Championship a few weeks ago in Vegas so they will be grandfathered into the 17U EYBL division this week to finish their season. This is going to be a big stage for a number of prospects on this team, including Subbert. They have a number of standouts from the 2028 Class playing up a level on this 17U team and they are showing they are the real deal, no matter who is put in front of them so I can't wait to see how they finish off their season over the next few days.     Assists Per Game: 4.7   4.7 is the number that is leading the Country in the EYCL this season in Assists Per Game and the player doing that is none other than our very own, Addie McLaughlin of AIA 17U EYCL. McLaughlin is one of Iowa's top 2028's for a reason. She is a leader by example, she is someone that can control everything that is happening on both sides of the floor with her next level guidance, and she is someone that everyone likes to compete with. Her teammates would say that she is one of the team favorites as an individual in general and that could take her a long way in life. Prior to this weekend, McLaughlin took a few D1 visits around the Midwest. If sure if she does her thing and plays to her full capabilities that she will be receiving even more interest moving into this Fall.     Rebounds Per Game: 12.8   I don't think it's surprising to anyone that Gentry Thummel is leading the JR EYBL in Rebounds Per Game at the 14U level. Thummel comes in at 6'2, making her one of the tallest prospects in the Country for her age level at this position. Not only is she tall, she pairs that with some impressive strength, that most can't deal with under the hoop. She has a great feel for the game already, she has some nice touch on the ball, and her footwork is slowly coming along as she continues to get older. Thummel is going to come into Iowa at the Varsity level this Winter and she is going to be one of the state's best rebounding forces so it wouldn't shock me if some college interest came to follow, even at this young of an age. You know what they always say, "You can't teach height."     Assists Per Game: 4.4   Following suit with her fellow teammates, Campbell Schulz comes into this conversation because of how well she has been passing the rock the last few months. Schulz is someone we talk about a few times a season during the Winter with her consistent production at North Polk High School. In that role she has to do a little bit more compared to just creating and dishing out the rock but she makes it work. Schulz is a D1 committed CG, who has been doing a great job of showing her worth in the EYCL this year. She has demonstrated her versatility to a T and that could help her see some time on the floor at the next level when she gets there following this Winter.     Field Goal Percentage: 37%   One of the best shooters in all of the EYBL at the 17U level is Katie Muller of Missouri Phenom. Muller is a Mizzou WBB commit, with a sniper for an arm from deep. She is the type that as long as she is over the half-court line, her shot has a chance of going in. It doesn't matter the situation, if she has ANY time or space, it's probably going up and it's going to look picture perfect in more ways than one. Missouri Phenom EYBL is always a hard nosed program, that does things the right way. If they play their cards right over the next few days, they should make a run come Bracket Play.
