Coming off of an excellent High School season and Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA is ready to make some more noise on the EYBL Circuit with her AIA AAU program. McCann came onto the Varsity floor this Winter and made some plays. She was efficient in most of her movements and intention throughout the season and she got better and better as things progressed on into the Post-season. McCann is so efficient at times that it’s not believable. She makes consistent plays on both ends and she doesn’t make it seem too challenging while doing so. This EYBL team is loaded and McCann is going to still be one of their best for this Spring so I think that is saying all we need to know.

We only saw glimpses this Winter of Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA on Waukee NW and that is because of how many college level prospects they possess. McCann is a 5’8 PG/SG and she might be the most efficient prospect out of this 2029 Class as a whole. She isn’t the type that is killing her opponents with flashy moves but with calculated fundamentals. Offensively, she knows how to make open shots at a steady rate and she doesn’t take “bad” attempts. Instead, if it seems forced, she will pass it back around and keep things moving within her team’s offense. From a college perspective, this is what you love to see out of a hooper. Someone that can make an impact but they aren’t going to force things leading into stupid mistakes that might cost you the game in the long run. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg as it pertains to McCann and her overall ability. During AAU she is an assassin and I can’t wait to see how she follows that up on the road with Spring.

Efficient. Calculated. Crafty. Play-maker. These are all terms you could use to describe Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA and what she brings to the floor. Sometimes you have a prospect that just makes things happen. They aren’t the most athletic. They aren’t the biggest and baddest but they make all the right choices and they seem to always come out successful. That’s Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA in a nutshell this Winter so far. We have seen this for years now on the National AAU floor but it’s nice to know that it also translates to the Varsity level as well. I’m expecting McCann to finish off this season on a high note leading in the travel season this Spring. If she continues to consistently grow within her own game, she is going to continue to be a killer moving into her Sophomore year down the road.

Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA sneaking into this Top Five to start off might surprise some people that haven’t seen her in her element yet but the reality is that McCann can play and just like her sister – she possesses that “it” factor. McCann is a 5’8 guard, who is extremely efficient and well-rounded overall as a player. She has a fundamental handle while she tends to play off of two feet and she happens to be a top-notch communicator to those around her with what is happening on the floor. Just like all of these players, McCann’s evolution over the next three years will be the key to her future success but for now, she is in a great spot moving into 2026.

I don’t expect Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA to see a ton of Varsity time this upcoming Winter but that shouldn’t diminish the fact that McCann is going to a gp-to player for the Wolves over her career. Just like her older sister, McCann just makes things happen. She makes plays when her team’s system breaks down and she understands how to compete on the hardwood the right way as an overall prospect. If she can continue to grind and watch the talented ones above her for a Winter or two, who knows how far she will be able to take things in the very end.

I’m hearing a lot of chatter that Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA is already looking like a Veteran out on the JV floor. McCann is a coordinated guard, that just makes it happen. It’s truly the best way to describe her game. If things break down, she can make a play with the ball in her hands or off of it as well. She rebounds at a decent rate, causes a lot of steals, and she has awesome finishing ability/body control while attacking the bucket. Waukee Nw is gonna be a power house to years to come so idk if McCann plays up Varsity right away but in most other programs across the state, she would. 

Waukee NW keeps getting better and better with the prospects they bring to the floor each Winter. Someone that is going to join their group as a Freshman this upcoming Fall is PG/SG, Grace McCann Grace McCann 5'8" | PG/SG Waukee NW | 2029 State IA . McCann is a better than average guard for her age, that shows a lot of the same ability as her older sister. She is a player that can make a lot happen with very little time or space, she can defend multiple positions, and when her natural instincts take over – she makes really good plays on and off of the ball. The Wolves are looking dangerous right now and no matter how this season ends for them, they will return next year with even more talent.
