Players Who Caught My Eye at the Mystics Open Run

Mystics hosted an Open Run that brought together a talented group of players for an opportunity to compete, develop their skills, and showcase their games. The session featured plenty of competitive action, giving players the chance to make plays in both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 settings. With several 2028 and 2029 players on the floor, there was plenty of talent to evaluate, and a number of players caught my eye with their skill, effort, and ability to impact the game in different ways. Here are some of the players who caught my eye at the Mystics Open Run.    Claire was one of the players who caught my eye at the Mystics Open Run with her length and scoring ability. During 3-on-3 action, she knocked down a three-pointer from the wing, then really found her rhythm in 5-on-5 play. Claire connected on at least three more threes that I saw, showing she can be a dangerous perimeter threat when she gets into a rhythm. She also mixed in a reverse layup and a floater to show she can score in different ways around the basket. On the defensive end, Claire used her length to disrupt plays and make things difficult for opponents. Her combination of size, shooting, and scoring versatility gave her plenty of ways to impact the game.     Callie made a strong first impression at the Mystics Open Run, as this was my first opportunity to watch her play. The shifty guard showed good ball control and the ability to create with her handles throughout 3-on-3 action. She finished through contact, used a tough spin move in the lane that was difficult to defend, and also displayed active hands defensively. Callie showed good court vision as well, delivering several quality passes to teammates. In 5-on-5 play, her athleticism really stood out as she elevated to grab rebounds and followed up multiple offensive boards with putbacks. Her combination of quickness, skill, athleticism, and toughness made her a player I enjoyed getting to see for the first time.     Ashlyn showed a nice combination of perimeter skill and interior toughness at the Mystics Open Run. During 3-on-3 action, the wing knocked down a three-pointer from the wing and made her presence felt on the offensive glass, converting putbacks for second-chance points. She carried that same rebounding mentality into 5-on-5 play, collecting more offensive boards and turning them into scoring opportunities. Ashlyn also did a good job using her body to seal defenders and establish position in the post. Defensively, she came away with a steal and quickly turned it into offense by finding a teammate with a well-timed pass for a bucket. Her ability to contribute both inside and on the perimeter gave her several ways to impact the game.     Taryn showed a strong interior presence during the Mystics Open Run, making her impact felt on both ends of the floor. During 5-on-5 play, she worked hard to establish position in the paint and consistently battled for rebounds, including several offensive boards that she converted into putback opportunities. Taryn did a good job protecting the ball once she secured it inside and quickly found her outlet with accurate passes that hit teammates in stride. Defensively, she used her length and physicality to make things difficult for opposing post players and held her ground around the basket. Her rebounding, interior toughness, and ability to make the right outlet pass gave her a solid presence throughout the run.     Gabriella brought plenty of energy to the defensive end at the Mystics Open Run. The guard was relentless in her effort, using active hands to disrupt ball handlers and jumping passing lanes to create turnovers. She also made several hustle plays that showed her willingness to do the little things on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Gabriella knocked down a three-pointer to show she can provide a perimeter scoring threat as well. Her defensive intensity, instincts, and effort made her a player who caught my eye throughout the run.
