About Taryn
Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Taryn’s length, athleticism, and skill immediately pop out on the court. She had a great weekend for Mystics 15U P24 at the PGH MI College Tour III, and it started on Saturday. Taryn drained three-pointers with confidence from the corners, battled inside to snag offensive rebounds, scored putbacks, and made a great lob entry pass from the high post over the top of a defender for an assist.

Taryn had a very productive day at the DCDHS Fall League. She out-muscled defenders inside to secure high percentage rebounding and scoring opportunities. Taryn finished offensive rebound put-backs, pinned defenders in front of the rim to catch entry passes, and scored effectively with both hands off two feet. Taryn scored floaters with right and left hand after using spin moves to create separation. She’s a prospect with length, height, strength, and skills that make her multidimensional on the court.

The word I’d use to describe Taryn’s Freshman Showcase performance is carpe diem–seize the day. Taryn played her best against elite talent under the bright lights. She was completely unstoppable on the glass and in the paint. Taryn got by defenders off the dribble, moved well without the ball, finished with power, and knocked down three-pointers. Taryn’s length, athleticism, strength, and versatility to play 1-5 give her an extremely high ceiling as a college prospect. She earned All-Showcase First Team and All-Defensive Team honors at the Freshman Showcase. Taryn will be an exciting prospect to watch at Detroit Country Day.

Taryn was the breakout player of the Freshman Showcase. She filled up my notebook with offensive rebounds, finishes around the basket, and trips to the free-throw line. Her long, athletic, and strong frame, in combination with her determined effort, was something defenders had the answer for. Taryn powered through contact to score an and-one layup off two feet and finished the three-point play at the line. She cut backdoor, caught the pass, and dropped in a left-handed floater over a defender. Taryn split the defense with her dribble, switched hands, and finished with her left off two feet. She caused a miss by closing out full-speed and showed her perimeter range by drilling a three-pointer in the slot. Taryn threw lob-entry passes into the low post with touch, scored a layup after a spin, move, grabbed multiple offensive rebounds on the same possession, and shot several free throws in every game. Taryn communicated on the court with teammates and is a Top Performer and an All-Showcase First Team selection.

Taryn was one of the biggest stock-risers at the Freshman Showcase today–she was phenomenal for Team 3. She has length, strength, and a dynamic set of skills that will make her an effective high school forward, but her ceiling will be higher as a guard. Taryn ran the point, switching hands in transition, and driving to the rim at will. She lived at the free throw line and had many layups throughout the day. Taryn was aggressive and confident on the court. She muscled her way into position to secure rebounds, made the hustle plays, and worked hard defensively. An all-around outstanding day for Taryn–she’s going to be a must-see prospect at Country Day.
