Multi-Athletic: Palmetto State Prospects Thriving in Other Sports

Prospects everywhere are in preparation mode.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One way that a number of notable names will prepare for the basketball season is by staying athletically active by partaking in another sport. There are many multi-sport athletes across the state and plenty of them are playing sports that are currently in season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This includes partaking in volleyball or flag football. Once the hoops campaign commences, Lucas' Stallions will once again be among the teams to defeat across the Palmetto State. Lucas has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader and has garnered a great deal of Division I offers. She played in all 29 games last season for a South Pointe team that finished 26-3 last season and advanced to another 4A Upper State championship game. As a senior, her collegiate basketball commitment is much-anticipated and she has plenty of offers to mull over. Those include Stetson, Newberry, UNC-Pembroke, Converse, Piedmont and Montreat. Godfrey recently concluded her AAU career with [program_tooltip program_id='713550' first='Palmetto' last='76ers'] has one more season with 5A River Bluff before she transitions to the collegiate ranks. Hoops-wise, she wore the AEBL uniform during the spring and summer of grassroots basketball and has secured offers from Gardner-Webb, North Alabama, Furman and Denmark Tech. Bostick is another that has played at the varsity level since she was in middle school and guided her Bruins to a 4A Lower State championship game last season. Said team has put together a record of 11-10 as of this writing. Murray's final season of AAU ball was spent sporting a [program_tooltip program_id='713550' first='Palmetto' last='76ers'] uniform and is mullint over offers from Elon, East Carolina, Queens University and Johnson C. Smith. Murray competed in 20 of the Tigers' 25 contests last season for a team that finished 20-5. She averaged 13.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 steals per contest. She concluded her middle school career at Sneed MS with an undefeated season and a championship. Since then, McElveen played up in class on the NE2K circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='713672' first='Palmetto' last='Pressure'] 15U and made an appearance at the Rock Hill Sports &amp; Events Center for the Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase. Backcourt beasts such as McElveen that have height advantages over their peers will always be in high demand among collegiate coaches. She has also been one of the featured players for the volleyball team at SCISA 4A Northwood Academy. As of this writing, Birch is leading her volleyball Chargers in kills per set and tied for the team lead in digs per set and aces per set. Basketball-wise, Northwood Academy has participated in state championship games during Birch's time in Chargers green and purple. The Lancers will be part of the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) as a 4A team this upcoming season. Delly is also part of the flag football team at Legion Collegiate. Eligibility issues led to a dreadful 2025-26 campaign for Legion Collegiate last season meaning the addition of Delly should denote improved fortunes for the Lancers in 2026-27. An offense and defensive playmaker, Delly averaged 13.2 points, five steals, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 steals last season with the Volunteers. Delly secured an offer from Voorhees in June. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
