PGH MI Expo: Team 6 Evaluations

The 2026 Expo was loaded with talent as 100+ prospects took the court in front of PGH scouts and college coaches representing D2, D3, NAIA, NCCAA, and JUCO programs. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Every participant is featured in our post-event articles, which is a unique and special feature of the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. Social media coverage, post-event evaluations, and a great presence of college coaches in the gym to watch many of the girls who will one day help their programs are elements that make this a special annual experience. Girls had the opportunity to be coached by different college coaches during games and competed alongside great high school talent. My coverage focused primarily on teams 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, and 12. Here is a snapshot of what I observed from players competing on Team 6 at the showcase:    A'leeyah was a key contributor for Team 6 throughout the PGH Michigan Expo. Her unselfish extra passes, quickness off the dribble, defensive pressure, and outside shooting caught my attention. A'leeyah dribbled into a smooth slot three and drilled another triple up top. She worked hard to secure an offensive rebound and made a nice kicout pas for an assist on a three. A'leeyah kicked the ball out again for an assist on a three, made a one more pass from the corner for an assist, and her pressure in the back court made ball-handlers uncomfortable. She attacked downhill with a dribble burst, then finished the speedy layup through contact. A'leeyah will be an exciting playmaker to watch in John Glenn's backcourt again this winter. She's a multidimensional player who impacts games on both ends of the court.     Maddy was completely locked in from start to finish at the PGH Michigan Expo. She looked determined to own the moment. Under the spotlight, she delivered an impressive performance for Team 6. If I'm giving out a Defensive MVP Award, it's going to Maddy. Her full-throttle pressure wreaked havoc on offenses and resulted in many steals, deflections, and blocks. I updated Maddy's position to combo guard because she ran point so effectively at the showcase. Her passing vision, ability to distribute/make accurate unselfish passes, instincts/decision making, ball-handling control/ability to escape pressure all impressed me during the games. Maddy's aggressive pressure created a deflection and she immediately was on the floor to fight for the 50/50 ball. She blocked a shot, corralled the defensive rebound, and pushed the ball up the floor with pace to score a layup. Maddy started a fast break after swatting a shot away, forced the final defender to commit to her dribble, then made the extra pass for an assist. She poked the ball out with her quick hands, picked up the steal, and rifled a pass to an open teammate. Maddy made a good feed pass to a cutter, held her position inside against a strong forward, walled up, and blocked the shot. She caught a pass inside, took a power dribble, then converted a contested short jumper in the paint strong off two feet. She attacked downhill to score a layup impressed me with her mental toughness/maturity. Maddy stole the ball away clean up top and had a clear path to the basket for a fast break layup, but was called for a foul. She didn't react and immediately moved on to the next play. Maddy will be a dynamic two-way difference maker in the Detroit Country Day lineup this season as they enter the season as a serious D2 contender.     Sloane was consistent and impactful on both ends of the court throughout the day for Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Expo. She was effective as a scorer from the perimeter and as a slasher. Sloane froze her defender with a rim look off then split the gap with a burst on her drive to cause a foul. She caught a pass in stride and made a smooth transfer to score the layup. Sloane dished out a pinpoint pass to a cutter for an assist and made a strong skip pass to an open teammate after securing an offensive rebound. She contested shots well to force misses and kept the ball contained. Sloane showed her outside range by sinking a smooth wing three and added another moonshot from way downtown that hit nothing but nylon. She's an exciting prospect to watch and is ready for a huge sophomore campaign at Chelsea.     Cara used her shoulder to finish strong through contact off two feet, set screens for teammates to create driving lanes, showed good awareness in help on the defensive end, and worked to get into position to secure rebounds. She's a versatile forward who can step outside and provide a spark with her three-point shooting, but also has the strength to mix it up and finish with strength around the basket. Cara had a solid day with Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Expo and will be a prospect to follow in the Milford girls basketball program. She looks ready for a big sophomore season.     Sydney will be one of the biggest ranking risers after a massive day for Team 6 at the PGH Michigan Expo. Her athleticism, fundamentally sound skill set, two-way impact, solid length as a guard, and lights-out accuracy from beyond the arc separated her at the event. She was a two-way impact player, moving her feet quickly to stop drives, swiping the ball away in the post, and disrupting passing lanes. Sydney made smart backdoor reads/cuts and finished with excellent touch around the basket. She scored multiple layups off quick dribble drives and off basket cuts. Sydney made it look easy from the outside. She ripped the nets with four threes during my time observing, shooting lights out from the wings and the corners. Sydney had great chemistry with her Detroit Country Day teammate and looks ready for a monster sophomore season.     Lauer has height, size, athleticism, and a muscular filled out frame that looks high-level college-ready right now, which is exciting because she still has time left in her high school career as a junior. I watched her play at the PGH Michigan Expo, and those qualities mentioned above combined with her skills, high motor, and instincts to keep reiterating my belief that she's a high-level guard-wing prospect. Lauer was in her element with Team 6. She crashed the glass to secure offensive rebounds, got to the free-throw line, distributed a pinpoint bounce pass assist in stride to a cutter, pushed the ball in transition, and demonstrated finesse/footwork in the paint that separated her. Lauer was active in the passing lanes, creating steals on the defensive end, and taking them the other way for layups. She finished effectively with her inside hand after side-stepping a defender with long strides on her way to the basket. Lauer caught a pass in transition and made a smooth transfer to finish with a reverse layup. She drove downhill with determination to score layups and delivered another statement performance in a very competitive environment.
