Maddy was completely locked in from start to finish at the PGH Michigan Expo. She looked determined to own the moment. Under the spotlight, she delivered an impressive performance for Team 6. If I’m giving out a Defensive MVP Award, it’s going to Maddy. Her full-throttle pressure wreaked havoc on offenses and resulted in many steals, deflections, and blocks. I updated Maddy’s position to combo guard because she ran point so effectively at the showcase. Her passing vision, ability to distribute/make accurate unselfish passes, instincts/decision making, ball-handling control/ability to escape pressure all impressed me during the games. Maddy’s aggressive pressure created a deflection and she immediately was on the floor to fight for the 50/50 ball. She blocked a shot, corralled the defensive rebound, and pushed the ball up the floor with pace to score a layup. Maddy started a fast break after swatting a shot away, forced the final defender to commit to her dribble, then made the extra pass for an assist. She poked the ball out with her quick hands, picked up the steal, and rifled a pass to an open teammate. Maddy made a good feed pass to a cutter, held her position inside against a strong forward, walled up, and blocked the shot. She caught a pass inside, took a power dribble, then converted a contested short jumper in the paint strong off two feet. She attacked downhill to score a layup impressed me with her mental toughness/maturity. Maddy stole the ball away clean up top and had a clear path to the basket for a fast break layup, but was called for a foul. She didn’t react and immediately moved on to the next play. Maddy will be a dynamic two-way difference maker in the Detroit Country Day lineup this season as they enter the season as a serious D2 contender.

Maddy is a 2028 guard I would love to see at The Expo because of the energy and two-way impact she brings to the floor. Her quickness is a major part of her game, especially defensively, where she applies consistent pressure, disrupts opposing guards, and can turn steals into easy scoring opportunities on the other end. Offensively, Maddy has shown she can stretch the defense by knocking down shots from behind the arc, but she isn’t limited to the perimeter. She will attack the basket, play through contact, and find ways to finish at the rim. Her ability to defend, create offense with her defense, shoot from the perimeter, and put pressure on the rim gives her a lot to offer on both ends. Maddy is definitely a 2028 prospect I would love to see competing in front of the college coaches at The Expo.

Maddy will be an excellent addition to the Detroit Country Day backcourt this winter. She was very productive and impactful at BCAM Reaching Higher. Maddy is a very athletic guard who can step outside to hit threes or attack with a downhill burst and beat defenders to the rim. She has the physical strength to finish through contact. Maddy competes with a high motor, moves her feet quickly laterally to apply significant ball pressure on the perimeter, and stays active on the boards. She hasn’t hit her ceiling yet and picked up a D1 offer from UMBC in June.

Maddy brought great energy for Team 9, using her quickness to turn defense into offense by pushing steals the length of the floor for easy baskets. She showed she can stretch the defense by knocking down shots from deep and wasn’t afraid to attack the rim, where she powered through contact for tough finishes. On defense, her constant pressure and disruptive play made life difficult for opposing guards throughout the day.

McChester had an outstanding day at The Freshman Showcase. Maddy is a versatile player who can dominate on both offense and defense. She made multiple 3-pointers, attacked the rim with excellent body control and skillful finishes. She also worked hard on the defensive end, securing multiple steals that she turned into scoring opportunities. Maddy will be a player to watch for Detroit Renaissance over the next four years.

McChester is the type of player that can leave a mark at this event. She is an absolute grinder. She doesn’t just work on her game, she WORKS as an athlete. McChester is a physically strong guard that can split defenders on the drive and finish through contact. She can play the game at a high speed and is dangerous in transition.

Maddy is going to be a highly recruited guard in this 2028 Michigan class. She showed her ability to compete against top Varsity guards on both ends of the floor for Renaissance on Saturday at the SS16 Shootout. She guarded the opposing teams best player and showed great balance and lateral movement on defense. Maddy drives on the floor for 50/50 balls and made a great one-handed pass on her drive. She buried a wing 3 and is a prospect who we will want to see again at our Freshman Showcase this August.
