2025 BodyArmor Showcase: Guards to Watch

This past Saturday, November 22nd, the inaugural BodyArmor Showcase tipped off at Pike High School, hosted by Pike Girls Basketball Head Coach Keith Hollins. The event delivered a full day of competitive matchups and highlighted a deep collection of rising talent from across Indiana. With teams featuring players from the 2026–2029 classes, the gym was filled with energy, physicality, and standout performances.   Throughout the event, I will be covering both individual player evaluations and game summaries. Matchups included Indianapolis Crispus Attucks vs. Pike, East Central vs. Hammond Central, Fort Wayne Snider vs. Lawrence Central, Floyd Central vs. Decatur Central, and North Central vs. Peru.   This article will focus specifically on the game summaries of Fort Wayne Snider vs. Lawrence Central and Floyd Central vs. Decatur Central.   Each team showcased its own identity and style of play. While their approaches differed, every roster featured promising players from the 2026–2029 classes—making the showcase a strong preview of the future of Indiana girls basketball.   Game 3 Summary: Fort Wayne vs. Lawrence Central   This was one of the matchups I had circled heading into the showcase, as both teams feature high-level talent and entered the game with big expectations. The action opened with Lawrence Central applying heavy defensive pressure, which quickly became a problem for Fort Wayne Snider. Snider is led by sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='879936' first='Janaya' last='Cooper'], who has missed the last four games due to injury, but Izzie Eke, a transfer from Bishop Dwenger, stepped up early. She scored several of Snider's opening points and has been a major boost for the Panthers in Cooper's absence—averaging 10.7 points per game, while shooting 45% from the field and 35% from three.   Lawrence Central started the game the same way they've been finishing games all season—dominant. [player_tooltip player_id='492322' first='Aniyah' last='McKenzie'] got things going with LC's first basket, hitting her signature baseline jumper. One of LC's biggest strengths this year has been their full-court pressure, with nationally ranked guard [player_tooltip player_id='492321' first='Lola' last='Lampley'] at the top of the press—relentless, long, and disruptive. Her future college coach, Kim Mulkey, was in attendance as Lampley finished with 21 points for the Bears.   The second quarter belonged to Boston College commit KeKe Butler, who exploded for 12 points in the period and finished with 23 total. Freshman forward [player_tooltip player_id='1263945' first='Kristina' last='Hollowell'], making her first career start, brought energy and physicality to the lineup. Her presence was noticeable, and gaining this experience early will benefit her tremendously as she continues to grow.    McKenzie is beginning to truly come into her own this season, stepping confidently into the expanded role that became available following the graduation of last year's senior class. From the start, she has shown that she is ready to embrace the responsibilities of being a primary contributor for Snider, and she has done so with a level of poise that is impressive for a sophomore. One of her strongest attributes is her shooting ability. She is especially effective in transition, where she stays alert, reads the defense, and steps into her shot with confidence and rhythm. Her scoring doesn't just come from catch-and-shoot opportunities—she also has the ability to create space for herself and knock down mid-range jumpers when the defense is set, which makes her a versatile scoring option. Beyond her individual scoring, McKenzie's impact on the team is evident in the way she helps maintain offensive flow. She understands when to push the pace, when to make the extra pass, and when to take the shot, showing an advanced basketball IQ for her age. Her teammates clearly respond to her energy and confidence, and she has moments on the floor where she lifts the group—whether it's a key basket, a smart decision in transition, or a vocal encouragement during a tough stretch. As a sophomore, McKenzie is already providing Snider with reliable production when the team needs it most, and her development this season suggests she has the potential to become a focal point of the program in the years to come. Her combination of scoring ability, court awareness, and leadership potential makes her an exciting player to watch, and she continues to prove that she can rise to the challenge when the game demands it.     I've had the chance to watch three of Keke's games so far this season, and each time she has shown noticeable growth and confidence. This past Saturday stood out the most. Her performance, especially in the second quarter, was extremely impressive—she erupted for 12 points in that stretch alone, showing her ability to take over a game when her team needs a spark. Whether it was attacking the rim, knocking down jumpers, or playing with poise under pressure, she demonstrated a complete offensive rhythm. What has really stood out across all three games is her consistency. Keke has been shooting the ball at a high level, making smart shot selections and staying aggressive without forcing the game. But her impact goes far beyond scoring. She leads by example in the way she plays, carrying herself with a calm competitiveness that her teammates feed off of. There are several moments throughout each game where you can see her encouraging younger players, offering quick words of support, or lifting the energy of the group after a tough possession. That kind of leadership is invaluable, especially for a team with developing players. Statistically, she has been just as strong. Keke is currently averaging 15.6 points per game, and the way she's trending, she is on pace for an even bigger season. Each game shows another layer to her development, and she continues to establish herself as a reliable, steady presence on both ends of the floor.     This past Saturday, Kristina made her first career start for Lawrence Central, a significant moment for the young freshman as she begins to gain early experience at the varsity level. From the moment she stepped on the court, her athleticism was evident—she showed quickness, agility, and a natural ability to navigate the flow of the game. Whether it was moving without the ball, cutting to the basket, or running the floor in transition, she consistently displayed the physical tools that set her apart, even as a freshman competing alongside more experienced teammates. What stands out most about Kristina is her poise and basketball IQ. Despite being one of the youngest players on the team, she moves with confidence and shows an awareness of the game beyond her years. She makes smart decisions with the ball, finds opportunities to create for herself or others, and competes with energy on both ends of the floor. Her ability to stay engaged and contribute meaningfully, even in her first start, speaks to her preparation and understanding of her role on a talented roster. Watching Kristina play is always a reminder of the potential she brings to Lawrence Central. She has moments where her athleticism translates into highlight plays, but she also makes subtle contributions—setting screens, making cuts, and providing defensive effort—that help her team succeed. While she is still gaining experience and developing consistency, it is clear that she has the tools, mindset, and competitive drive to become a key contributor in the years to come. Saturday's performance was just the beginning, and it will be exciting to follow her growth as she continues to gain confidence and experience at the varsity level.    Game 3 Summary: Floyd Central vs Decatur Central   This game started off slow on the offensive end for both teams, but Decatur Central generated energy through their defense, especially with their press. Decatur Central is led by 2029 guard Cerinity Johnson and junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='751066' first='Havana' last='Thompson']. Both have different playing styles, but each fits well within Decatur Central's system and gives them balance in the backcourt.   Floyd Central responded with a run of their own, fueled by senior guard and Western Kentucky commit [player_tooltip player_id='486500' first='Elise' last='Coleman'], who helped them take control and maintain their lead.    Freshman guard Cerinity Johnson brings an energy and competitive fire that Decatur Central needs to succeed—something not always easy for a first-year player to provide. Johnson finished the game with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, showcasing her versatility and poise. With four years ahead of her at the varsity level, she has the potential to become Decatur Central's next rising star and a key piece of the program's future.     [player_tooltip player_id='486500' first='Elise' last='Coleman'], a Western Kentucky commit, stood out in her matchup against Decatur Central. She plays the wing position exceptionally well for Floyd Central, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. In this contest, she defended effectively, rebounded with toughness, and contributed timely scoring opportunities for her team.   Coleman is off to a strong start in her senior season, and she looks like a great addition for the WKU women's basketball program.
