2024 Rankings: Maryland’s Top Freshmen
This freshman class came in at an unprecedented time. The pandemic has caused a real stir as many players haven’t been able to step on the floor at all this season and most that played had a modified schedule. For all this season wasn’t the dream as their parents and fans didn’t get to see them perform. PGH has been on live streams and confernce calls with high school coaches to monitor players progress and development and has released the first 2023 class rankings.
2023 Top 5
1) Madisen McDaniel Madisen McDaniel 5'9" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2024 State MD – 5’9″ – Point Guard – Bishop McNamara
“Little Maddy” had been a been a fan favorite since elementary school, dazzling coaches and scouts with her advanced skill level. The question was always her size until she had a serious growth spurt in middle school. She joined the defending WCAC Champions and top ranked national program and immediately inserted herself into the starting lineup. She has the complete package for a point guard, she has vision, high level IQ and the ability to score from all over. Madisen enters the 2023 rankings easily as the top pick based on performance alone and should be the face of the Mustangs for the next few years.
2) Kendall Dudley Kendall Dudley 6'1" | SF Sidwell Friends | 2024 State MD – 6’1″ – Wing – Sidwell Friends
Kendall has the size frame and skill that every program in the country seeks. Their are literally several college programs that she can join and contribute at now. As she continues to get stronger and improve her perimeter shot her high stock will continue to grow. She is one of the most versatile player in the class having the ability to play any position on the floor.
3) Kyndal Walker Kyndal Walker 5'9" | PG St. John's College | 2024 State MD – 5’8″ – Point Guard – St. John’s College
This freshman class is one of the most talented groups we’ve seen in years and a lot of top players will fly under the radar because so many names have been highlighted for years. Kyndal Walker Kyndal Walker 5'9" | PG St. John's College | 2024 State MD came into the limelight late in middle school having playing up most of her young career. She comes from a good stock growing up in a basketball family. She is super quick and at full speed she is under control. She is a player that is hard for defenses to read because of her pace and the fact that she has a quick release on her shot. She makes any team better and is probably the best player in the country that many haven’t heard of.
4) Kiyomi McMiller Kiyomi McMiller 5'8" | PG Life Center Academy | 2024 State NJ – 5’8″ – Point Guard – Pallotti
Kiyomi is probably the most recognized name in the 2023 class. She has been on the national scene since the fifth grade playing on the 17U circuit and in every imaginable showcase there is. She is one of the regions most skilled ball handler and her game has been scrutinized, broke down and disected for years. She is the classic case of over exposure but, her talent level is unquestionable. In most classes she would be the clear number one player, as she has shown little to no holes in her game. She has played with multiple programs and as she settles in with the right fit she will be able to emerge to her full potential.
5) Carolae Barton Carolae Barton 6'2" | PF St. John's College | 2024 State MD – 6’2″ Power Forward – St. John’s College
Let’s remove all the hype, glits and glamor and just talk basketball and Carolae Barton Carolae Barton 6'2" | PF St. John's College | 2024 State MD comes to light. She is a basketball player. A coaches dream that will get in and grind in any situation. She is the player that may not get the awards and the praise but when you look at the stats that matter in wins and loses she is the MVP. One of the best rebounders in the class, she is strong and surprisingly nimble and has adequate ball handling to start the break.
Bonus Player:
Tatum Greene Tatum Greene 6'2" | SF St. John's College | 2024 State MD – 6’0″ – Wing – McDonogh School
Tatum comes in at #6 but deserves a mention. She is a super athletic wing that has three point range. She can blow past most defenders to get to the basket and finish. She’ s a good defender and shot blocker around the basket. Her handle is adequate enough to start the offense at the point or go coast to coast on the break.
