Length matters. Length can do a lot for any prospect, especially if you have skills to go with it. Then that’s just dangerous. A team full of length can have a great defensive advantage as the half-court setting becomes smaller and more crowded for the opposing offense. Making it more difficult to execute an offensive game plan.
The PGH Legacy Classic made it very easy for me to perform this article and it was the first article idea that came to mind when I first saw the prospects. There were many to chose from but I broke it down to eight prospects.
Katy Reyerson Katy Reyerson 6'2" | PF West Marshall | 2023 State IA – (6’2/Wing-PF/2023) – CY Select Wolves 2022 Alpha – West Marshall (Iowa)
Katy is one of those prospects that has skill to go with her impressive length at 6’2. Very long arms and wingspan the crafty lefty has. She was mentioned as a standout performer in an earlier post. She’s skilled around the rim and can shoot the rock. Very good upside to Katy as a prospect.
Dominique Mack – (6’1/Wing-PF/2024) – Nebraska Hoops Elite – Omaha Central (Nebraska) – Another skilled wing that can handle the rock well enough to cross into a three. She can board the ball and keep it and push the ball in transition. She doesn’t need to defer the ball off to a guard. She has that type of skill-set at a long 6’1. She also has a soft touch in the painted area, extended. She keeps her shot high away from the defense.
Brooklyn Kruse Brooklyn Kruse 6'3" | C Wayne | 2023 State NE – (6’3/C/2023) – United Sports Academy 2023 – Wayne (Nebraska) – Brooklyn was one of the first lengthy prospects that I noticed from the get-go, as she easily stands out with her pure height. She can defend, even on the perimeter. She uses her length to defend on the wing and contest jumpers effectively.
Riley Batta Riley Batta 5'10" | PF South Central Calhoun | 2023 State IA – (PG/5’10-5’11/2023) – United Sports Academy 2023 – South Central Calhoun – #21 ranked 2023 Iowa
Riley is a big guard that handled point guard duties this past weekend. She showed that she can play the point and handle defensive pressure at such a good size and athletic build. She was able to push the ball in transition well and make plays.
Maggie Tynan Maggie Tynan 6'3" | C Marian | 2024 State NE – (6’2/C/2024) – Omaha Sports Academy 2024 National Krehbiel – Marian (Nebraska) – Maggie was another prospect that immediately stands out against her 2024 peers. She’s a towering presence in comparison to her age group. I believe she has some room for solid upside, when she catches up to her growth. She’s a little bit of a stiff mover but that gives her some good upside going forward as well.
Alliyah Thompson – (6’0/Wing/2024) – CY Select Wolves 2024 Alpha I – Ballard (Iowa) – Alliyah stands out with her length a tremendous amount in her 15U matchups. Her arms are impressively long. She uses her extreme length to play passing lanes and make deflections. Also, to finish in traffic up over the defense with ease. If she continuously improves her physicality and frame, she could be a good one.
Rylee McLucas Rylee McLucas 6'0" | SF Millard North | 2025 State NE – (6’0/Wing-PF/2025 – Team Factory 2025 National – Bellevue East (Nebraska) – Rylee wears #35, reminiscent of Kevin Durant and his long, lanky frame. Rylee’s skills are evident and has a combination of skill and length to work with, going forward in the future. Every time I scanned the court and saw Team Factory 2025 National, I didn’t have to wait long to see Rylee swatting opponents shot attempts, with her combo of verticality and length. The skills are there, along with the understanding of the game. But she can take it to another level and the sky is the limit for Rylee.
Parker Christiansen – (6’0/Wing/2025) – Nebraska Lasers Supreme 2025 Gold – Waverly (Nebraska) – Parker has the combination of build and length of a 2022 and not a 2025. She’s not a long and lanky 6’0, as she has a strong frame that gives her great functional movement and athleticism. A high energy prospect that is always moving without the ball. Parker is skilled enough with the ball to handle it herself up-court and make up-court passes to running teammates.
