Sydney started her sophomore season with an eye-popping 29-point and 10-rebound performance against Pewamo-Westphalia and has continued to contribute mightily for the Trojans. She pursues rebounds, drives hard to the rim, and knocks down perimeter shots. Sydney is a big reason why East Lansing is off to a 5-2 to start and earned a higher ranking.

Black had a fantastic summer in AAU and performed well at the National Championship. She is a hustler that any coach would love to have on their team. She has exceptional ball-handling skills and can handle any pressure that comes her way. She also rebounds at a high rate from her guard position. Sydney should have a great sophomore season for East Lansing.

Black displayed intense defense at The Mitten Summer Showdown. She uses her quickness to cause all sorts of havoc for her opponents. While she is super impressive on the defensive end of the court, she can get to the rim and knock down shots as well. Look for a big July for Sydney!

15U-Hutson at The Clash. She drives with strong dribbles and power towards the basket. Sydney scored layups in transition and caused fouls driving into contact. She relentlessly pursues offensive rebounds and elevates off two to score over defenders. Sydney has the range to hit shots beyond the arc and nailed a 3 pointer from the corner.

started strong from the start for East Lansing this season. She faced a dominant Grand Blanc team in only her second game and led the team in scoring with 10 pts & 5 boards, while sparking the team with her toughness. Sydney led the Trojans in scoring with 18 pts against Hartland and is an outside scoring threat with downhill speed and a tenacity at the rim. She is a double-double scoring and rebounding threat every game; Sydney uses her lateral quickness, defensive pressure, and speed to create havoc for ball handlers. was a top performer at our Freshman Showcase and it’s exciting to see her demonstrate that same dominance at the Varsity level. She used a baseline rip from the corner to beat her defender and then square her shoulders to score through a foul at the rim. Sydney was applying immense ball pressure up top and playing effective basketball on both ends for the Trojans.

Black was lights out at the PGH Freshman Showcase this fall. Let’s start with the physical gifts. She pairs strength and athleticism with playmaking abilities. Black can score through contact as well as off put backs and on the perimeter. Outside of basketball skills, she’s a hard working young lady with a terrific support system helping her reach her goals.

Black plays a high IQ game and takes advantage of scoring opportunities. She’s a 2 way player that gets after it on the defensive end. Black is more than willing to hit the floor for a loose ball.

was another two way guard who had a monster day at the Freshman Showcase. Her relentless pursuit on the offensive boards led to numerous put back and one’s. She forced turnovers with pressure on the ball and deflecting passes. I wrote down that she was a leader on defense as a primary communicator and energizer for her team. She finishes off two feet well and gets downhill fast with force. She will be a nightmare for guards to match up with this season as she joins an East Lansing team that will make some noise this season. Read more about her impressive day here.
