Coach Kevin Lyons at Converse added to what is growing into an impressive 2027 in-state recruiting class as Howell announced she will become a Valkyrie following her senior season at Wren. The Hurricanes are dropping back down to the 3A ranks after a couple seasons at the 4A classification. Howell’s final season at the travel level was spent with FBC Next Up. She would compete in all 28 matchups for Wren last season and averaged 9.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.2 assists per game. Howell was one of six from the class of 2027 on last season’s Hurricanes squad. 

Scarlett was a defensive spark in every game over the weekend. She got out in the passing lanes and created steals for her team that led to transition points. She has a knack for being able to do that and making it look easy. One thing that will never waiver while she is on the court is her hustle and grit.

Howell claimed her second offer since the conclusion of the high school season. It was another in-state offer courtesy of Erskine. The first was courtesy of Converse. As a 2027, Howell will soon resume her final travel season with FBC NextUp S40. In July, Howell is scheduled to be at a live period tuneup event in Georgia over Fourth of July weekend then will head to Ohio for the P24/S40 Session 2 and 3 gathering. Her travel schedule has included a stop at the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit’s Peach Games in early May as well as spending April’s live period in Ohio and May’s at Live At Lakepoint. Howell averaged 9.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals for a Hurricanes team that will resume play as a 3A combatant beginning with the 2026-27 season. 

Following the high school campaign with 4A Wren, Howell took her talents to FBC Next Up 17U Blue for her final go-round through the travel ranks. Howell would also secure an in-state offer by way of Converse. Howell has seen plenty of Georgia throughout this year’s travel season. She participated at Peach Games on the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit in early May and was at Live at LakePoint during last month’s live period. Howell played in all 28 games for a Hurricanes team that finished with a 15-13 record while averaging 9.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Wren is set to return to 3A next season. 

Scarlett is getting back to her old self after having some time off after an ankle injury. She loves to push the ball quickly up the floor and find her teammates for a quick transition bucket. She can also slow down the pace and facilitate in the half court when needed. Howell’s biggest asset right now is her three-point shooting ability. She has a quick release and a nice stroke.
