Whitney Young and Sidwell Friends played in a close and entertaining game that Sidwell Friends won. Destiny carried a big offensive load for Whitney Young. Destiny knocked down a handful of threes, and she hit some tough mid-ranges. Destiny has a great handle and is a great athlete. Her shot creation was elite all day, and it was an elite performance against a nationally ranked opponent for one of the best players in Illinois.

Heading into her last year with the Dolphins, Jackson will be in line to secure a ton of awards, and that’ll come from her being one of the toughest players to guard in the state. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see a 45-point game, as well as a 10+ assists game. It’s clear she’s sharpened the playmaking ability of her skill set.

The chances of Destiny bringing home all of the prestigious awards for Illinois are not far-fetched. She had a huge summer, being placed on a national stage, whether it was competing with her AAU program or attending invite-only camps (UA, Puma, Wooten), as well as being part of the inaugural season for Overtime Select. With her recent announcement to stay home for the next chapter of her career at Illinois, Jackson has been thrust into the spotlight once again.

Jackson has been titled the best player in her class since before her freshman year. With the recent release of her top five (Illinois, Arizona, North Carolina, Baylor, and West Virginia), it’ll be interesting to see which path she follows. Will she reunite with her old Whitney Young teammate, who’s a rising star at Arizona? Could she become the next Deja Kelly at North Carolina? Or will she head to Champaign and join the Fighting Illini at Illinois? This kid has all the talent to make a big splash in her freshman season.

As the high school season ramps up, I believe Jackson is in a situation that will show her ability to be a distributor just as much as as a dominant scorer. Being the focal point of an offense requires you to play the game at a different pace.. so your fatigue doesn’t burn out from putting it all on your shoulders. She had a great summer with Example and even earned an invite to the Under Armour Steph Curry Camp that hosted tons of high level players. Destiny has shown to be the number 1 player in this class.

Jackson is the #1 sophomore in the state in her class for a reason. She posses a multitude of ways to score, her vision and handles are on one wavelength, which makes her.. lethal when attacking and facilitating. Destiny’s skillset is crafty, confident, and adaptable. Game on the line shot? she want’s it. Game on the line defensive stop? She’s ready. Will easily be one of the best guards to put on a Whitney Young jersey, let alone one of the best to put on for her city.
