When playing a team as stacked as 4A Gray Collegiate is, one does not know who the primary point-getter or point-getters will be. On Friday at the Beach Ball, that was Freeman who led her War Eagles with 20 points in a 63-53 decision over 5A Division 2 Socastee. Freeman established herself early and often by displaying not only speed and quickness but her ability to out-hustle her opponents. Combine that with Freeman’s rim-attacking capabilities and leadership attributes and it makes her an especially valuable piece to the winning puzzle that is coach Brandon Wallace’s Gray Collegiate team.

In a close contest such as the one between Gray Collegiate and First Baptist, every point counts. The clash of 4A teams went the way of the War Eagles and the seven points placed on the board by Freeman made a notable difference. As someone who primarily plays at the point, she thrives as an attacker of the basket and will find driving lanes to the rim. Freeman can get herself in position to corral her fair assortment of rebounds. Defensively, Freeman is a consistent threat to collect plenty of steals which translate into additional offensive possessions for her team.

The addition of Freeman to coach Brandon Wallace’s Gray Collegiate assembling certainly made its transition from 2A to 4A a lot less daunting. Freeman can attract plenty of attention whenever she has the ball in her hand given her ability to not only make plays but put her teammates in position to do the same. She places as much emphasis on ball distribution, rebounding and defense as she does scoring. Freeman is one who possesses plenty of court vision. She played in 20 games last season for the War Eagles and averaged 10.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.1 steals per contest.

Kiley played her freshman season at Chapin HS before making the move over to the War Eagles this summer. Kiley a left-handed point guard was able to change directions and race to the cup all day long. She was able to finish through contact at times today while attacking the rim. Kiley is a very capable shooter from the floor at times. Freeman never looks to take a play-off while on the floor.
