“There is quite a few prospects out of the 2028 Class that I think they could make a difference at the Varsity level over these next couple of seasons and MaKenna Rooney is one of those prospects. Rooney is just a solid player. She stands at 5’8 in height with better than average athletic ability and she doesn’t kill you with flash moves or anything crazy but just efficiency and fundamentals. This is someone that usually makes the right play, no matter the situation and that seems to translate to most floors looking toward the future.”

Rooney has a quick trigger from deep, pin point accuracy, beautiful footwork, and a willingness to become better every single day. She has proven that she can catch and let it go off of screens on the catch or she can dribble it and pull up off of that as well. I’m excited to see how complete of a guard she can become over her next few years. If she evens out all of her abilities, she is going to be one tough prospect to guard. She will be competing with her Millard West squad over these next four years. If their system with the Wildcats stays as productive as years past, I’m sure that Rooney will fit right in.

Makenna Rooney Makenna Rooney 5'8" | SG Millard West | 2028 State NE has a great feel for the game of basketball. She is a guard prospect, that is very good at getting into the teeth of the defense off of the dribble, usually finishing the possession with her patented floater/runner. She also earns a turn of respect on defense. She understands how to sneak up on her opponents, recording a ton of steals because of her mixture of quick hands and awareness of situations. If she works hard to become efficient, she will turn out to be a difference maker at the high school level by the end of her career. No doubt about it.

Makenna Rooney Makenna Rooney 5'8" | SG Millard West | 2028 State NE is one of the only prospects playing up out of the 2028 Class on this squad and for good reason. Rooney is a Point Guard with fantastic vision in the open court, solid athleticism, and a great playmaking ability on or off of the ball. She and her team are clearly at their best when the ball is in her hands but if not, she can still produce at an efficient rate playing at the wing. She demonstrates better than average knowledge of the game and she can be a disrupter on the defensive side of the floor. She may be playing up a grade level but you’d never be able to tell if I didn’t mention it.
