Shania Curry Shania Curry 5'10" | PF/SF Ben Davis | 2027 State IN brings a level of competitiveness, energy, and mental toughness that was on full display this past weekend, and it’s only a matter of time before more college coaches take notice—if they haven’t already from her time with WV Thunder (Perry) 16U S40 last year.
She played a major role in Ben Davis’ success this past high school season and has carried that same impact into her AAU play. Curry consistently brings effort on both ends of the floor and competes with a high motor, setting the tone for her team through her play.
Offensively, she is comfortable operating from the wing, where she can handle the basketball and create opportunities for herself and others. She also has the ability to space the floor with her perimeter shooting, making her a versatile threat within the offense. With her continued development and consistent production, Curry is a player whose recruitment should continue to grow as she heads into a key spring and summer stretch.

Curry has been the scoring leader for this young Ben Davis team, and throughout the season she has been one of the players who consistently stood out—especially during the team’s run of success in the middle of the season. Her ability to score in a variety of ways has been critical to Ben Davis staying competitive, and she has shown confidence taking on a larger offensive role.
I’m excited to see her take the next step in her game, particularly in high-intensity matchups like this. As the competition and pressure increase, her continued growth in decision-making, efficiency, and leadership will be key for this team moving forward.

Shania Curry Shania Curry 5'10" | PF/SF Ben Davis | 2027 State IN has steadily developed into her own player, showing significant growth last season and continuing that momentum with a strong AAU campaign for West Virginia Thunder. She is a long, athletic guard who plays with relentless energy on both ends of the floor, using her length to cover ground effectively and disrupt opponents. Offensively, Curry averaged 11.5 points per game for Ben Davis last season, proving she can score consistently while also creating pressure with the ball in her hands. Defensively, her quickness and wingspan allow her to guard multiple positions and make an impact in transition. With Curry returning alongside key teammates, Ben Davis is well-positioned to build on last year’s success. Her versatility, energy, and ability to impact the game on both ends make her one of the key players to watch in the program’s pursuit of another strong season.

Shania is back in action this month, after missing significant time in May & June due to an injury setback. She seems to have picked back up where she left off, as she is flying around the floor. On both her high school and grassroots teams, they have lacked for size this year, and she seems to have embraced this role of being the biggest player on the team, if not always size-wise, at least mentally. She is a strong athlete, she can run & jump, and she plays with a nonstop motor. She will defend, rebound, and look to score it from the mid-post and in.

Shania had a nice Winter for the Giants, averaging 11.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. She then came out and was fantastic early this Spring, flying around the floor, scoring it at all three levels, defending multiple positions, and rebounding caroms outside of her area. Unfortunately, she was also injured this Spring and has had to miss some time, but she is expected back in July. Ultimately, I think she could potentially develop into more of a natural wing with her athleticism, but she’s a mid-post forward right now.

Ben Davis suffered an exodus of players this past Summer, whether it was via graduation or transfer, but Shania remained a Lady Giant and was a key part of their core. She is a strong, athletic, incredibly active forward who is willing to do a lot of the “little things” to help her team win. She is probably better suited as a small forward for the next level, but she’s such a good rebounder and tough defender inside, that she finds herself in the mid-post a lot for both her school and club team.
