Continue ReadingChampionship teams are a sum of talented players that give maximum effort and have the intelligence to execute the plan from their coach. Among those players is a leader that rises up and puts their teammates ahead of themselves for the greater good of the team. This player knows where everyone is on the court and knows how to keep everyone on the same page. You don’t have to tell them to pick up their intensity on defense, because they operate at a high frequency and lead by example. Highlighted below are what I call “Floor Generals”, the leaders that are an extension of their coach.
Brooke Bettis Brooke Bettis 5'6" | PG Tulsa Union | 2025 State OK | 5-5 / CG | Union HS | Elevate Your Game 2024
Brooke is an underrated player that gets things going for her team. She brings the ball up the floor ready to attack but smart enough to run the offense. She has great court vision and can make a one-handed cross-court pass to an open teammate while under pressure. She has a motor that allows her to blow by the defense, slice and dice through the lane and finish before anyone can get to her. Defensively she works hard. Brooke plays the passing lane well and has active hands on-ball and quick feet. She has the ability to hit the 3-point shot and is continuing to work on her game.
Jonah Daily | 5-6 / PG | Pryor HS | Tulsa Lady Hawks 2025
Jonah is a playmaker that is cool, calm, and collected under pressure and knows how to get out of trouble. She does a good job getting her team involved. Her court vision is impressive and can make one-hand passes on the money to her teammates. Defensively Jonah is great on the ball and is relentless to make it uncomfortable for the opposition. She plays the passing lane well and stays active in help. Her shooting form looks good and her 3-point shot is pretty consistent. She does a good job using the shot fake to get away from defenders and finds the open mid-range jumper. I like her game and look forward to watching her develop this spring/summer.
Gentry Baldwin Gentry Baldwin 5'5" | PG Bixby | 2023 State OK | 5-5 / PG | Bixby HS | Team Griffin Elite 2023 Wernli
Gentry is a competitive player that sets the tone defensively for her team and runs the show. She is probably the best on-ball defender I have seen in a long time because she is constantly in your face fighting through screens, getting deflections and steals. She will look to push the ball in transition ahead to shooters, and slows the pace down to run the offense. Gentry is a player you don’t have to beg to get in the gym. She is committed to her craft and enjoys the process of getting better. She is the truest of point guards but has the capacity to give you 30 points. Her speed and handles make her tough to guard and she has the range from downtown in 3-point land. At Battle in the Big Friendly she made at least 15 3-pointers and averaged 22 points in 3 games. She is a complete player that does all the right things. She will be a steal at the Division 2 level and a strong contributor at the Division 1 level. She currently has 2 offers and the way things are going she will receive more.
Macy Marraccini Macy Marraccini 5'5" | PG Broken Arrow | 2025 State OK | 5-5 / PG | Broken Arrow HS | Oklahoma Swift 2025
Macy is a player that controls the pace for her team and rarely gets rattled under pressure. She is an extension of her coach because she seems to be on the same page of her coach when running the offense. She will make the right play and that includes creating a shot for herself. Her handles and hesitations make her hard to stay in front of and she has the court awareness to keep her defender off balance. She can shoot the ball. If somehow, she is left alone behind the three-point line, just know you can count it. She has a basketball mind and knows how to get stuff done.
Kate Melton Kate Melton 5'7" | CG Edmond North | 2024 State OK | 5-7 / G | Edmond North | Team Buddy Buckets 2023 | 2024
Kate is a prime-time player that has the respect of her peers. When the game is on the line, who do you want to shoot the ball? Yep, you guessed it. Kate has made big shot after big shot for her school, 6A-State Champions–Edmond North, and has continued with Team Buddy Buckets so far this spring. She is a high IQ player that makes good decisions and she is a pest on the defensive end. That’s a compliment because she knows how to take teams out of their game. She is a sharp shooter that can light it up and is extremely exciting to watch.
