-We start in Dike, where the Class 1A No. 1 Algona Bishop Garrigan visited 2A top-ranked Dike New Hartford. The Golden Bears knocked the host Wolverines from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 62-46 victory. They improved to 20-1, while Dike-New Hartford fell to 19-1.
The state’s top-ranked 2023 recruit, Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6'3" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA , was cooking. The Iowa State signee dropped in 29 points. She helped Bishop Garrigan build a 19-8 lead after one quarter, and is averaging 31.7 points and 14.3 rebounds in ’22-23 on her way to likely winning player of the year honors. Molly Joyce Molly Joyce 5'7" | PG Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State IA added 18 points for the winners.
Payton Petersen Payton Petersen 5'10" | C Dike-New Hartford | 2024 State IA paced the Wolverines with 17 points. The Louisville volleyball recruit has averaged team-highs in points (15.1 per game) and rebounds (9.8) this winter.
-In an interesting 2A matchup with No. 10 Treynor playing host to ninth-ranked Underwood, the home team rolled to a 59-25 victory on senior night. The Cardinals broke open the game with a 21-7, third-quarter advantage in improving to 18-2 this season. The Eagles dropped to 17-4.
Air Force commitment Clara Teigland Clara Teigland 5'9" | CG Treynor | 2023 State IA led Treynor with 21 points. She’s averaged 17.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.5 steals during her final prep season. Junior Alexa Schwartz Alexa Schwartz CG Treynor | 2024 IA has complemented her with 11.1 points, 6.3 boards, 3.1 assists and 3.1 steals a contest. Underwood, which saw its three-game winning streak snapped, has been led by junior Alizabeth Jacobsen Alizabeth Jacobsen 6'2" | C Underwood | 2024 State IA , who is averaging 13.1 points. 2.4 blocks and 10.5 rebounds.
-Westwood Community played host to Woodbine in a matchup of ranked Class 1A teams with two combined losses coming into the contest. The home team prevailed, 66-57, improving to 19-1. The 20-2 Tigers saw their seven-game winning streak end.
Sophomore Ashlyn Davis Ashlyn Davis 6'0" | SF Westwood | 2025 State IA paced the fifth-ranked Rebels with 28 points in victory. She’s averaged 14.9 points and 9.2 rebounds for Westwood, which rebounded from a 38-31 setback to Kinsley-Pierson on Saturday. Freshman Brenna Johnson Brenna Johnson 6'0" | SF Westwood | 2026 State IA has contributed 11.5 points, 8.2 rebounds 2.4 assists and 2.5 steals for the Rebels.
Sophomore Charlie Pryor Charlie Pryor 5'5" | SG Woodbine | 2025 State IA has paced Woodbine in ’22-23 with 15.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.5 steals an outing. Teammate Amanda Newton, a junior, has chipped in with 11.5 points and 8.7 boards.
-Class 2A No. 4 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont played host to 1A 15th-ranked Martensdale-St. Marys Tuesday night. The home team pulled out a 65-58 victory fueled by a 23-12 fourth quarter. Junior Aliya Wagamon Aliya Wagamon 5'10" | SF EBF | 2024 IA and Ava Eastlick, a sophomore shared high-scoring honors for the winners with 17 points apiece. Sophomore Molly Shafer Molly Shafer 6'0" | PF Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2025 State IA added 15 for the Rockets, and her twin sister, Kate Shafer Kate Shafer 6'0" | SF Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2025 State IA , grabbed 15 rebounds, blocked four shots and dished out nine assists without a turnover.
Junior sisters Brynnly German Brynnly German 5'5" | PG Martensdale-St. Marys | 2024 IA and Campbell German have led the Blue Devils averaging 14.0 and 11.0 points, respectively, in ’22-23. Classmate Sophia Shannon Sophia Shannon 5'10" | SG Martensdale-St. Marys | 2024 State IA is contributing 10.5 PPG.
-Class 4A No. 8 Pella welcomed 13th-ranked Indianola to its gym Tuesday night. The home team prevailed, 53-50. Junior Kennedy Van Vark Kennedy Van Vark 5'5" | PG Pella | 2024 IA ‘s 16 points led the winners, while teammate Mia Warner, a senior, grabbed 16 rebounds, blocked two shots and snagged two steals. Junior Tristan Gordon chipped in with six boards and three assists.
For Indianola, which couldn’t overcome being outscored 16-7 in the second quarter, senior Emily Naughton Emily Naughton 5'5" | PG Indianola | 2023 State IA scored 22 points and handed out four assists. Sophomore Zoey Belt added 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the visitors.
-Class 5A No. 6 Ankeny Centennial traveled to ninth-ranked Southeast Polk Tuesday night. The visitors secured a 52-46 decision in their fifth game in a row against a rated opponent.
Senior Averi Porter Averi Porter 5'8" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2023 State IA powered Centennial with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists, while classmate Makenna Clark Makenna Clark 5'7" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2023 State IA added 11 points and six assists. Senior Brooklin Dailey Brooklin Dailey 5'8" | SF Southeast Polk | 2023 State IA paced the Rams with 22 points and five rebounds, while junior Eva Solseth Eva Solseth 5'9" | CG Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA chipped in with 10 points, six boards and a pair of assists.
-Class 3A 11th-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg picked up an impressive 54-44 home victory against No. 14 Center Point-Urbana Tuesday night. The Vikings utilized a 15-7, third-quarter advantage en route to the win.
Senior Alyssa Griffith has led the way for Vinton-Shellsburg this winter with 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds a contest, while her classmate, Abby Davis, has scored 10.3. For the Stormin Pointers, sophomore Mya Hillers has averaged 10.0 points and 5.7 rebounds, and Tayler Reaves Tayler Reaves 5'7" | SG Center Point-Urbana | 2023 IA , a senior, has netted 9.7 PPG.

-In a Mississippi Valley Conference tilt Tuesday, Class 3A No. 9 Dubuque Wahlert welcomed 4A eighth-ranked Cedar Falls into its gymnasium. The home team recorded an impressive, 56-49 win. Sophomore Claire Lueken scored 16 points, handed out six assists and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles, while teammate Emma Donovan, a senior, scored 18. Junior Maria Freed notched 12 points and six assists without a turnover for Wahlert.
