HONORABLE MENTIONS
Baker is such a smooth scoring guard. She can get buckets in so many ways that it makes her taxing to defend.
Highlights
This one is simple: Video. Game. Numbers. Abney proved all season that she deserves to be on this list.
Highlights
I think there’s a theme to this year’s player of the year and honorable mentions. Stay tuned. Richards was the key ball handler and decision maker for the D2 state title team.
Highlights
Richards was a premier floor stretching 4. She battled on the glass and hit jumpers with 3 point range. She’s currently holds the title of ‘state champion’ as well.
If you read my work often, I absolutely love her game. She has an innate feel for the game that just can’t be taught.
If you saw Morson play on the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit, you saw this coming. She played downhill and was a monster in the mid range, leading her team to the D1 semifinals.
Utomi played with physicality and proved to be a tremendous leader for a talented and very successful team.
Utomi showed elite strength and versatility all season long. She showed her well rounded game by contributing in so many way.
Sanders showed elite explosiveness and blow by speed, taking her game to another level this season. She was named Miss PSL this year as well.
The silky smooth perimeter player showed her elusiveness all year. She led Chelsea to one of it’s greatest seasons in school history.
Zeinstra might have been the best pure shooter in the state this season. Oh don’t forget that she averaged almost double figures in rebounds as well.
There was no more impressive player throughout the state playoffs than Avery Collins Avery Collins PG Blissfield | 2024 State MI . She was lights out and her name will go down in history at Blissfield.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
I cheated. I went co-players of the year. How do you distinguish between twins that are so wildly talented and successful. Summer and Indya Davis Indya Davis 5'9" | SG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI have now won back to back Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Player of the Year awards.
This isn’t the first player of the year award with Indya’s name on it and I’m sure it won’t be the last. We all know she can score, but it was her rebounding and defense that really put her over the top this season. Davis’ game seemed to get stronger and more explosive as the season marched on.
Summer Davis Summer Davis 5’9″ | PG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI was equally as impressive this season. She was a shot taker and shot maker all year for an elite West Bloomfield squad. I was very impressed with her ability to distribute the ball as well this year.
