Sunday, August 27th, Prep Girls Hoops Indiana hosted its second annual Freshman Showcase. The event, which took place at Fishers High School, included more than 110 registered participants, all from the 2027 class. Fellow writer Jeremy Brooks (PGH Iowa) will be writing a number of follow-up articles from the event as well, but I wanted to focus my time on each team and each young lady who participated in the showcase through a series of articles of my own. Additionally, I would like to thank all of the players, parents, and support staff who made this event a success!

.

TEAM 3:
#6 - [player_tooltip player_id='751054' first='Ellie' last='Cooper'], Lebanon H.S. - Ellie is a balanced athlete, she has nice length, and for the most part she'll just need time to finish growing and gaining strength. She has a fairly balanced skillset, and that should improve over time as well.

#13 - [player_tooltip player_id='751087' first='Kendal' last='Price'], Mooresville H.S. - Kendal is a long athlete with a quickness/shiftiness to her game. She can handle it and run offense or create for others, plus she plays with some grittiness as well. I also liked her effort defensively.

#18 - [player_tooltip player_id='751061' first='Grace' last='Deaton'], Monrovia H.S. - Grace is a smaller guard, but she has nice length, she plays with a good motor, and she's a solid all-around athlete. She can handle it a little as a point guard, but she looks more comfortable as a shooter.

#41 - [player_tooltip player_id='751053' first='Ellen' last='Wheeler'], Westfield H.S. - Ellen is another smaller guard, but she was very quick getting in and out of gaps and attacking the basket. She has a solid handle and looks for teammates often. More than anything, she needs time to grow.

#369 - [player_tooltip player_id='751063' first='Grace' last='Scharlach'], Fremont H.S. - Grace stood out Sunday because of her athleticism. She is quick, fast, and bouncy, and she gets from A to B seemingly effortlessly. She showed touch outside as well. When she learns to change speeds, watch out.

#608 - [player_tooltip player_id='751078' first='Jazlyn' last='Diamond'], Richmond H.S. - I was intrigued by Jazlyn, and it appears as though her best days are well in front of her. She has a long, wiry frame, she's a fluid athlete, and she has some skill. She needs time to grow and add strength.

#611 - [player_tooltip player_id='751107' first='Mollie' last='Combs'], Forest Park H.S. - Mollie was solid throughout the day Sunday. She has length, she's a solid athlete in most directions, and she was very aggressive towards the basket. As she gets stronger, she should be more consistent.

#623 - [player_tooltip player_id='751058' first='Etta' last='Young'], Jennings County H.S. - Etta is a very long and wiry-strong athlete. She moved well in most directions, and really, she just needs a little more strength to absorb contact. But she was aggressive off the dribble and played hard.

#655 - [player_tooltip player_id='750923' first='Avery' last='Losh'], Hamilton Southeastern H.S. - Avery struck me as a very strong and physical kid who has possibly been more of a post growing up. At about 5-10, the next step for her is adding a consistent face-up game offensively.

.

TEAM 4:
#7 - [player_tooltip player_id='751097' first='Lily' last='Hart'], LaPorte H.S. - Lily could help LaPorte immediately this year. She is extremely long, wiry, and fairly quick/fast. She has a nice overall feel for the game, solid ball skill, and she's active. Strength will help her consistency.

#49 - [player_tooltip player_id='751105' first='Matilyn' last='Johannsen'], Bishop Luers H.S. - Matilyn has broad shoulders and very good strength for a 5-5 wing. She is a solid North/South athlete who plays with a nice motor. She was around the ball a lot, and she rebounds her position well.

#69 - [player_tooltip player_id='751036' first='Allie' last='Tallent'], Monrovia H.S. - Allie has a lot of upside, and her best days are likely in front of her. She is extremely long and wiry, and she looks like she'll grow. She also has good speed and quickness, plus she has a nice feel for the game.

#97 - [player_tooltip player_id='751067' first='Haven' last='Middleton'], Brownsburg H.S. - Haven is another one of those "wait-and-see" type of kids, because a couple of inches and added strength will really help her game. She has length, she's a solid athlete, and she plays hard.

#322 - [player_tooltip player_id='751121' first='Sophie' last='Kyker'], Lebanon H.S. - Sophie showed some intriguing qualities, but again, time and strength will really help her consistency. She has length, she's very active, plus she has a solid handle and plays sort of a point forward role.

#643 - [player_tooltip player_id='750165' first='Claire' last='Brock'], Brownstown Central H.S. - I'm always intrigued by 6-0 or taller kids I haven't seen before, and Claire is certainly interesting. She has nice length, some fluidity, but she just needs to continue building strength.

#645 - [player_tooltip player_id='622340' first='Alaina' last='Diamond'], Loogootee H.S. - Alaina had a strong Summer, and she was even better Sunday. She is very active, fluidly athletic, and almost smooth at times. She plays with some bounce, and she has skill facing the basket.

#646 - [player_tooltip player_id='751088' first='Korinne' last='Nickolson'], Pike H.S. - Korinne is extremely quick, fast, and somewhat feisty. She has a nice feel for the game, she can get into gaps in the defense and cause problems, plus she has a nice handle and is crafty with the basketball.

#662 - [player_tooltip player_id='750718' first='Adah' last='Hupfer'], Pendleton Heights H.S. - Adah made quite an initial impression over the Spring & Summer. She has a nice, strong frame, good hands and footwork around the block, but also a high level of skill away from the basket.
