Alaina is a tall, extremely long, but fluid athlete. She is more of a forward than a post athletically, and she prefers to play facing the basket, from the mid-post to the perimeter. Despite playing quite a bit outside, she is still averaging 2.9 blocks per game, and like DuVall (above), Alaina affects as many other shots as she actually blocks, so she is “doubly” effective. I also feel like over the past couple of years, she has gotten a bit stronger and more aggressive. This season, she is averaging a double-double of 18.4 points and 11.4 rebounds, and she should approach the 1000 career point mark toward the end of the season. She should also top 500 rebounds around the middle of January.

Alaina offers the Lions a great deal of talent, skill, and hope for the next two years. She had a great Sophomore season (16.7p, 9.3r, 1.9s, 1.7b) and looks to catapult from that moving forward. She is skilled around the basket or facing it to the perimeter, she’s a nice all-around athlete, and she has good length and a wiry-strong frame to her. Alaina is starting to draw her share of recruiting interest as well from varying levels.

Alaina has already drawn some attention because of her height at her age, and it appears Southern Indiana has quite a few sizeable 2027s to keep an eye on. In what I was able to see, Alaina showed the ability to get out and run the floor, she has solid hands, and she has some skill around the paint and facing the basket. As most youngsters do, she will need to continue building her strength and working on her base, but she could still grow more, and she has really nice athletic tools to work with.
