Continue ReadingSunday, August 27th, Prep Girls Hoops Indiana hosted its second annual Freshman Showcase. The event, which took place at Fishers High School, included more than 110 registered participants, all from the 2027 class. After going back and watching all 12 teams one more time, I wanted to take the time to highlight the best performers from the even-numbered teams (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12). Let me be very clear…these are players who I felt stood out throughout this event in what I was able to see, not necessarily the best overall prospects in attendance. Additionally, there were 52 girls who participated on these six teams, while only 15 are highlighted below. More than 15 girls obviously played well, but these were who stood out the most in my mind.

ALL “EVENS” TEAM:
Team-2:
Ashlee Baker

Baker

Franklin Central | 2027
State
IN
, 5-9 G, Franklin Central H.S.
– Ashlee had a strong Spring & Summer, and she backed that up with a consistent performance throughout Sunday. She is strong, skilled, and understands how to play the game. She has good vision, handles it well, and can find open teammates. Additionally, when she has any space and rhythm, she’s a very good perimeter shooter. I’ll be curious to see the impact she has this Winter.
Team-6:
Lillie Graves
Lillie

McCutcheon | 2027
State
IN
, 6-0 W, McCutcheon H.S.
– In the early stages of evaluating this 2027 class in Indiana, Lillie stands out quite a bit, and she did again on Sunday. She is long, fluidly athletic, and smooth. She still needs to shoot it more consistently, but she has improved tremendously, plus she can still glide to the rim just about any time she wants against her peers. She can become an elite defender as well.
Team-6:
Abigail Orme
Abigail
Orme
5'4" | PG
Hamilton Southeastern | 2027
IN
, 5-3 PG, Hamilton Southeastern H.S.
– Abigail was an absolute thief on Sunday. I promise you, in one game I think she had a dozen steals by halftime (at least it seemed like it). She is tough-nosed and plays with a nice motor, plus she has strength at her size, speed, and quickness. Mentally, it seems like she’s one step ahead of everyone else when she’s on the floor, plus she has a well-balanced skillset.
Team-8:
Marissa Pleasant

Marquette Catholic | 2027
IN
, 5-5 G, Marquette Catholic H.S.
– Like I said in the team reviews, this kid was an absolute dawg when I saw her on Sunday. She has broad shoulders, some strength, plus she has an athletic frame. She is as tough as they come in this age group, plus she is a nice North/South athlete. She always seems like she’s on attack, and she got to the rim and finished through contact regularly. I also liked her defensive effort.
Team-10:
Havana Thompson
Havana
Thompson
5'9" | SG
Decatur Central | 2027
State
IN
, 5-9 G, Decatur Central H.S.
– Havana has a strong understanding of the game, she sees the floor well, plus she has the talent and size to make her a very nice prospect long-term. She has an athletic frame, some length, plus she’s skilled with the ball. She can handle and pass it, she has touch around the perimeter, and she can get into the defense and score. She’s also active and rebounds.
