All 9 players locked in defensively especially in the last 5 minutes of the game and offensively showed their skill set. One thing that stood out with this team is they let the game come to them and didn’t force many shots. They found the player who had the hot hand in their game and fed off of each other. Here are the players!
Dylan Peterson Dylan Peterson 5’7″ | PG Waukee | 2026 IA played very well on both sides of the floor. She wanted to guard the best player defensively and offensively she played her game and didn’t let the defense dictate her offense. Her shot mechanics are great and she didn’t miss many open shots. Shooting off the catch was great and she shot well off the dribble with the proper footwork. Unfortunately, Dylan was injured during the event and wasn’t able to play the last 2 games. One thing that stood out after her injury was her supporting her teammates. She looked engaged during games and encouraged her team while having to sit and watch. Waukee High School not only has a great ball player in their program, but a fantastic teammate.
Highlights
Madyson Prevail Madyson Prevail 5’4″ | SG Sioux City West | 2027 IA is a natural leader on and off the court. I was able to coach one of her games and she asked great questions and is a very coachable player. Madyson made adjustments right on the spot and didn’t make the same mistake twice. She’s the type of player her teammates would try and find in transition. She can shoot with a quick release and play off the catch off the dribble. Prevails shooting was on display as it seemed once she made one shot, the basket was getting bigger for her. Furthermore, she can fill the stat sheet behind the arc if you allow her to continue to shoot the ball. Moving without the ball is a struggle for a lot of players, Madyson understands the game off the ball as well.
Rylie Fugate
Rylie Fugate
Rylie Fugate can score in many ways and can defend against multiple positions. This player looks to drive before looking to shoot the outside shot. Rylie did a great job on her drives using low and high pickups to keep the ball away from the help side defense. She finished well around the basket off one and two feet. I enjoyed watching her play because she took what the defense was giving her in order to simplify the game.
Macey O’Brien Macey O’Brien 5’9″ | CG Waterloo Columbus | 2027 State IA is a lock down defender who also expects contact every possession especially on her drives to the basket. She guarded in the full court a few times and forced the ball handler to give the ball up. Macey is fundamentally sound when it comes to boxing out and being strong not letting anyone get around her. Offensively, I watched this player hit 4-5 threes and they were all net. Her shot mechanics look great, once she hit one shot her confidence was through the roof. Favorite thing about this player was how fundamental she was on both sides of the floor.

Maddy Rice Maddy Rice 5’9″ | SG Dowling Catholic | 2026 State IA is a work horse from start to finish! She can guard all 5 positions on the floor and has a goal to outwork your best player. Maddy communicates effectively on both sides and knows how to defend/set ball screens. Her shooting ability forced the defense to extend allowing drive and kick opportunities for teammates. Also, she can shoot the deep 3 ball and can take you off the dribble. This player finishes well around the basket and has great footwork.

Paige Andernacht Paige Andernacht 5’11” | C Johnston | 2028 IA is a big who does all the dirty work in the post. Boxing out, rebounds, block shots, diving on the floor, you name it. Her size and ability to head hunt offensive rebounds put a lot of pressure on each team. Players cannot take plays off when she’s on the floor because she will make them pay. Paige has great footwork in the post and can finish with both hands. She’s also class of 2028! Be on the lookout for this 8th grader who’ll be dominant this winter season with the Iowa Battlers .
