I had the chance of recently sitting in on a workout, seeing Sydney Doeschot Sydney Doeschot 5’8″ | PG Kingsley-Pierson | 2026 State IA compete against some of the most elite players in the state. In this workout Doeschot did more than hold her own, she confirmed everything I had already thought about her up until this point by showing off her creative guard play and smooth skill-set with the ball in her hands. Doeschot only stands around 5’8 but she she plays big. She comes off of screens with intent, she moves without the ball whenever she can, she is selfless while creating for others, and she doesn’t take any plays off. Sadly, Doeschot falls victim to something she can’t control and that is her high school competition. At times, it’s not competitive. Nevertheless, Doeschot puts up some powerful stat lines throughout the season and that can’t be ignored. This is another player with no offers as of yet, but from everything I have seen, she should have several by the time she closes the book on her high school career.

A player that has had her recruiting interest sky-rocket over the past few months is Maryne Szalo Maryne Szalo 5’10” | SF Waukee | 2026 State IA . Szalo is a 5’11 Forward/Combo Guard, that can HOOP. She has flow and rhythm to her game, all while being balanced and controlled within everything she is attempting to do out on the court. There isn’t a moment where Szalo doesn’t get the look she wants on the offensive side of the floor, while being very active defensively each play. Her reaction time is very impressive and she has athleticism that helps her recover if she ever gets beat off of her first step. Szalo is college prospect that most, if not all colleges in Iowa will/should be after when the time comes. Until then, watch Szalo and her Waukee High School team this winter, they are going to bring back a roster of skill players, that have experience and leadership. When you add that all together, it’s a recipe for success.

A player that has a game that I admire is Adalyn Long Adalyn Long 5’9″ | SG Washington | 2026 State IA . Long has proven over these past two seasons that she is someone to know throughout the state because of her consistency on ANY floor. I’m not going to lie, I had my doubts. Long was always solid but her competition level didn’t tell me much. As of recent, I had the chance to see Long at a few college elite camps this fall, prior to this high school season tipping off and in every occasion that I saw, she did well. Long has a high level skill set from the Shooting Guard position. She is reliable and constant in everything she does while also being crafty and tricky, whenever she has to be. She does a good job of knocking down shots on rotation and is always displaying confidence/intent in every movement she makes. All in all, Long could definitely see a college floor by the time she leaves high school, she just need to keep on the grind.
