The 4 or the power forward position has transcended over time. This used to be the position that did things opposite of the center. For example, high-low action, posted on the opposite block (take the ball out). They still did the grunt work as far as rebounding, setting picks, and pretty much anything around the glass. However, thanks to Dirk Nowitzki and others, the position has “stretched” the floor per se. Now you have kids are at this position, pulling 3s, leading breaks, pick and pop instead of pick n' rolling. They tend to be longer and more athletic. If you have a type of player such as this on your squad, it can be a game changer.

Obviously, scoring happens, but to be able to have this option to utilize is an added bonus. Across this great state that prides itself in women's basketball, we have a little bit of the best of both worlds. Depending on where you are from, your coaches scheme, and the type of player you are, you have the stretch 4s or the traditional power forwards. Both play an integral role in the success of their team. However, both types are important and are one of the most impactful positions on the floor. Throughout our state, these girls are counted on nightly to get it done. If it's putting the ball in the bucket or crashing the boards, this position is a must have for any ball club.
