In the article below, we are going to cover our new Top 5 from the 2025 Class. There has been a lot of movement in not only the Top 5, but throughout the entire 2025 Class Rankings for this update, so make sure to check it out when you have a moment!
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Starting off our Top 5 Rankings for this Update out of the 2025 Class is Sarah Gatwech Sarah Gatwech 6’0″ | CG Lincoln North Star | 2025 State NE of Lincoln North Star High School. Gatwech, a 5’11 Guard, is very skilled. She has a deep offensive “bag” that is always good enough to get a clean look at the basket, whenever she is trying to attack. Defensively she is lengthy. She has long arms and quick hands, leading to a lot of tips and deflections on that side of the ball. I like Gatwech in this spot because of her ceiling. At times she pulls out moves during a game that make you really think about how much she could produce in the correct collegiate setting. Pair that along with her natural size and we are talking about a player that should dominate most of her matchups on the high school floor. I’ll be keeping a close eye on Gatwech and this team moving forward. They are going to be in the State conversation at the end of the year as long as they continue to play as a team and keep a positive attitude when things get tough.
Maya Dolliver comes highly ranked on this list each update because of her mixture of skill and versatility on the hardwood. I would be hard pressed to find more than a handful of players in this Class that can do what Dolliver does on a consistent basis. She brings up the ball, she can handle pressure off the dribble, she can score from all three levels, she can produce off of the ball, she can defend any alike sized player, and she knows how to lead a team. For example, Last season she was good enough to help lead her team to a State Title and they are looking to repeat that once again this winter. As we are three weeks into the regular season, the Pender Dragons have started where they left off from last year. Their leaders are leading, the coaching staff is doing a great job of preparing for each contest, and everyone else is buying in. As long as Dolliver keeps up her play, everyone else is going to be able to step up and help this team in the long run.
Highlights
Molly Ladwig Molly Ladwig 5’9″ | CG Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE retains our #3 spot in this Update with her consistent play to begin this season. On both sides of the floor, Skutt Catholic is getting it done. Doesn’t matter who the opponent is, they are making things happen. Whether it’s stops near the paint on defense or creating something out of nothing on offense. They are firing on all cylinders and looking great up to this point. A big reason for their success being because of Ladwig. She is a constant guard on this team that is putting up positive numbers, while helping lead her team to an undefeated record so far. The best way to describe Ladwig’s game is aggressive but calculated. She is always ready to attack when the ball is put in her hands with the ability to finish at all three levels offensively. Coming into this winter, Ladwig currently has a handful of Division-1 offers from across the country. I’m sure that list is going to continue to grow but that is not going to satisfy her. She has her eyes on the prize this season and wants nothing more than to bring home a state title. Something at this point, that is definitely do-able. It won’t be easy but there is a path to make that happen if they take care of business each night.
The best duo in the state in the 2025 Class comes in the form of Norah and Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6’0″ | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE . These two are monsters on the court in their own right and because of that, they have had a lot of success the past few seasons. Coming into this specific Update, Norah comes in at our #2 ranking in the Class. Norah is the Point Guard out of the pair. The player that is going to bring up the ball against any pressure the defense might show and create for the teammates around her. Don’t get me wrong, Norah can score the ball. She is shooting at a 52% rate this season so far and that’s not going to slow down but she is definitely the best on her team at distributing the ball. Looking forward, I’m pretty sure both of these sisters will commit together and whoever gets them, is getting a blessing. These two can really hoop on their own and when you put them together, it’s a next level connection. You can see it now and you will continue to see it throughout their entire careers.
Taking over our #1 spot in the 2025 Class for this Player Rankings Update is Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6’0″ | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE . Neleigh is the counter-part to her sister Norah on the floor. Norah playing that natural point position is the one to set up everyone more-so, while Neleigh is the one to score, rebound, and block shots more often. Some of the reasoning behind this is because of each players position. Obviously, someone that is a Shooting Guard spot is going to get more shots then someone who is playing at the PG but with that being said, right now Neleigh is playing some really good basketball and putting up team-leading numbers across the board. She is shooing 56% from the field and grabbing around 9 RPG. Along with those two very impressive numbers, she is also dishing out 2.5 APG and rarely turning over the ball in the meantime. The success of both of the Gessert sisters somewhat relies on each other. When one plays well, the opposing defense takes their attention to that specific player, opening up opportunities for the other and vise versa. This team does have other college level commits but they will only go as far as these two can take them.
