In this article we highlight five individuals that have put up impactful numbers this Winter for their high school team’s.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Jada James Jada James 5’8″ | PG Duchesne Academy Omaha | 2027 NE stood out prior to this season to myself because of her scoring ability on the offensive end but the more I watch her, the more I like her game on the defensive side as well. James has an above average motor and some decent length physically on the floor. She understands her best ability and what she wants to do with the ball, all while being aware of the best way to attack her defender. I wasn’t sure if James was going to be able to step up and step in right away to a Varsity role but she definitely proved her worth these past few months. She demonstrated that she has a lethal shooting stroke from anywhere behind the three point line and she can catch on fire in the blink of an eye. Overall on the season, she built a solid foundation and averaged some good numbers. If she continues to expand her game to be more complete from all three levels, then she will really have it cookin.

Kinslee Kern Kinslee Kern 5’7″ | PG York | 2027 NE may have only averaged 7.1 PPG as a Freshman but she displayed a lot of promise in several aspects of this game. The thing that jumps out to anyone when watching Kern compete is her ability to shoot the ball. She has a picture perfect shooting stroke from deep, with great arc and a consistent base. Whenever she is in any type of situation around the three point line such as a Pick-&-Roll, the defense needs to be aware that she is usually going to pop out. If you leave her open to shoot around there, it’s going to have a good chance of going in. Defensively, she works just as hard. She always tries to beat her opponents to their spots and if she can’t, she communicates to switch with a teammate that may be closer in proximity to the play. York High School had a nice season overall and Kern did a consistent job of standing out. The future for both parties in this matter seems bright moving forward.

I’ve been a fan of Addison Medeck Addison Medeck 6’2″ | PF Papillion LV South | 2027 NE ‘s game for a few years now and I’m happy that she demonstrated what she could really do this season on the Varsity floor. Medeck has size, coordination, knowledge of the game, and a physical prowess while attacking her defender on the offensive end. She put up promising numbers as a Freshman with 10.6 PPG and 8.9 RPG, almost averaging a double-double for her PLVS High School team. If she stays on this path and continues to work hard over this travel season, I’m sure her interest as it pertains to the next level is going to rise. She has demonstrated that she does too many good things on the floor. If you consider that and imagine putting other collegiate level prospects around her, things get scary. This year she made her presence known around her high school conference and I’m sure that next year she is going to return as a player with a target on her back. Something that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Raeann Massey Raeann Massey 5’7″ | PG Fort Calhoun | 2027 NE of Fort Calhoun averaged one of the highest PPG averages amongst all Freshman throughout the State of Nebraska this past few months and her game is only going to get better moving forward. Massey is a PG with quick hands and fast feet, who has an act for getting steals in the open court, usually ending the possession in a transition bucket for herself or an open teammate up ahead of the play. She has consistently demonstrated that she is good at getting her eyes up and passing the ball whenever the opportunity may present itself. When she wasn’t getting steals in the truckload this Winter, she was bringing up the ball and running a lot of her team’s action offensively. I need to see Massey compete on the road this Spring to get a better feel for her overall play-style against tougher competition but from everything I’ve seen up until this point, she checks off a lot of boxes that recruiters would have for someone to be able to compete at the next level.
