Gunter interior defense, stalling CT second chance or any attempts around the rim. A quickly progressing forward in that 2026 class, her defensive impact has been imperative to this group’s dynamic play on both ends. Her active hands and quick instincts rotating over into the paint make Valor such a dependable group on the interior. Given Cherokee Trail’s array of shotmakers, Gunter allows the other defenders to remain on their typical assignments without helping in the paint.

Miller’s two-way impact has been necessary to Cherokee Trail’s success in these playoffs. Her physicality and limitless motor gave this group an edge, particularly productive attacking the rim to draw fouls or score through contact. She has been among the most productive athletes throughout the 6A playoffs, given her willingness to be a threat versus opponent physicality. Miller has been relentless on the glass throughout the playoffs, truly a pest in the paint, particularly versus opponents lacking strength.
Wilhelm has a way of kickstarting an offensive possession or mending it back together through her rebounding. Always moving once a shot goes up, her hustle has been necessary for Legend making another deep run into the playoffs. Even stepping up for a big three in the final 0:15 seconds, the guard put everything she had into this matchup.
Broadus was seemingly always in the right spots on the offensive glass, quick and wiry, complemented by excellent instincts. Active getting shots or passes up with urgency, she helped elevate Cherokee Trail’s energy through the first quarter. They sophomore has had no easy task of playing large portions of games at the 5, often dealing with a mismatch.
Strode did well facilitating for this group’s wide array of shotmakers, actively creating entry passes into the post or swinging the ball along the perimeter. The guard stayed active while off-ball, repeatedly crashing the glass.
Highlights
Chaney was active crashing the glass on the offensive end, hustling every time while below the free throw line. Her hustle remains a clear strength of hers, even grabbing some deflections and a block due to her assertive approach on help defense, always a threat to rotate over when you least expect.
Rumpf stayed dependable, mitigating Legend’s post scorers from gaining easy access down low. Her wide reach and effectiveness boxing out opponents was essential to slow down Legend’s post threats, taking away space and putting those opponents in uncomfortable circumstances. Certainly no easy task against two future frontcourt college athletes, Regis Jesuit remains a versatile defensive group, effective versus anyone.
Borcherding continued to play a vital role in grabbing rebounds and facilitating for shotmakers. Despite their finish, this group could not have made it this far without her production.
