There was drama, buzzer beaters, fans, college coaches, familiar and unfamiliar prospects, and exciting moments at the Breslin Center for the girls’ state semi-finals and finals games. Of the many great players competing, these are the girls from D1 who displayed their best basketball on the biggest stage.
Chelsea Bishop Chelsea Bishop 5’10” | SG Grand Blanc | 2024 State MI played exceptional basketball for Grand Blanc at the Breslin Center. She was an absolute force inside during both games against two extremely strong and athletic teams. Chelsea’s ability to high point passes and rebounds inside was spectacular to watch; she showed her touch and power finishing off of two feet through contact. Chelsea knocked down a 3 in the finals, putting up 2o points w/ 7 boards in a game where she had to score in a crowd of D1 athletes. She added 13 points and swiped 5 steals to lead Grand Blanc to victory against Belleville in the Semis. Chelsea ended her high school career playing her best ball on the biggest stage and will be an asset for Alabama A & M.
Destiny Washington Destiny Washington 5’6″ | PG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI was the most impressive PG at the Breslin Saturday. She put on a dribbling clinic weaving through defenders, switching hands, and killing the clock late. Destiny knocked down a mid-range jumper, drained a 3 from up top, and finished a runner at the rim. Her lock down defense, physical strength, court vision, and passing effectiveness were on full display in the finals. Destiny demonstrated her efficiency as a shooter and scored 10 pts with 5 assists in West Bloomfield’s finals victory.
Summer Davis Summer Davis 5’9″ | PG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI was the steady and reliable offensive leader for the Lakers at the Breslin. She has one of the smoothest jumpers you’ll see and created separation to knock down a game high four 3’s in the championship game. In a stellar semi-final matchup with Rocford, Summer scored a game high 22 pts sinking three triples from outside and hitting a clutch 13 of 16 free throws from the charity stripe. Michiganders will be following her career at Georgia.
Indya Davis Indya Davis 5’9″ | SG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI made the shot heard around the state at the Breslin Center Friday night. With only seconds remaining, Indya sprinted through a staggered double screen and fired a long 3 from the right wing off the catch. Her shot banked in at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime. West Bloomfield rode the wave of momentum winning the game and finishing their run as state champions. Indya relentlessly rebounded both days, 17 boards total, and added 28 points. Her clutch shot will be remembered and Michiganders will enjoy following her at Georgia next season.
Anna Wypych Anna Wypych PG Rockford | 2025 State MI showed the state Friday why she should be a front runner for Miss Basketball as a senior. She knocked down multiple 3’s, finished a fake pass layup at the rim, finished drives through traffic, and created offense for Rockford against elite athletes. Anna led the Rams with 20 pts, while adding 8 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals. She is an impressive all around prospect who I expect to lead her team back to the Breslin Center next season.
Kate Higgins
Kate Higgins
Kate Higgins is a 6’0 Power Forward with an exclamation point from Rockford. She made an impression on coaches and scouts with her strong performance in the semi-finals against West Bloomfield. Kate is built like a tank with footwork and quickness that separate her from other forwards. She had a nasty swat at the rim and ripped the ball away from her opponent: she’s tough. Kate can use both hands to dribble and she drove past defenders to score a left layup at the rim. She scored contested finishes inside and put backs after working for rebounds. Kate had a game high 13 rebounds and chipped in 11 points for the Rams. Keep her on your watchlist as a top PF prospect in the 2026 class.
Sydney Savoury Sydney Savoury 5’11” | SG Belleville | 2027 State MI ended her impressive Freshman campaign with another productive outing on the state’s biggest stage Friday. She has been a three level scorer all season for Belleville and produced in every area to help the team make a deep playoff run. Sydney knocked down three triples for the Tigers and converted a fancy eurostep at the rim. She swiped 4 steals and added 6 boards in an inspired 24 point effort. Sydney will be a high profile prospect to watch at every travel tournament she competes in this spring.
