This class of freshmen are certainly already top contributors for their teams, and that’s apparent when you notice three of these athletes competed in state championships this past year. Let’s take a look at the top five on the list.
It seems like Jordan Speller Jordan Speller 5’6″ | PG North Pitt | 2027 State NC has been a known name for years, and she’s just a freshman. She earned the Most Valuable Player award for her state champion North Pitt Panthers this year with her contributions on the court. She easily gets to the basket showing off her handles losing her defenders. She can pull up for a jumper creating her own space for the shot. She’s a pesky defender, too, knowing how to pick the pocket of her opponents.
Lenise Joseph is one of the toughest players in the paint, and I’m not just talking about in the 2027 class. She already has some nice footwork getting into position against tough opponents, and she knows exactly how to make adjustments putting up her shot. On defense, she can block shots and grab rebounds making sure it’s difficult for anyone to score around her.

Madison Drayton is another athlete who finished her season with some hardware, and she’s one of the biggest reasons her Cannon team was in the position to compete. She was constantly moving all over the court getting the ball around the arc, or she can flash in the paint being ready for the pass and bucket. She attacked the open lanes and scored well in transition. Her ability to find the open spaces is definitely something fun to watch for the next several years of her high school career.
Highlights
Leena McField seemed to already have her sights on some record books as she broke many scoring records for her 4A high school like most points and most three pointers made throughout the season. She’s pretty automatic on the floor being able to catch and shoot from anywhere, and she doesn’t back down from contact when she drives to the rim. She has the same composure throughout her games showing how to control herself and the tempo of the game making sure her team is always in the advantage.
Jaidiah Blake can easily score on all levels of the court showing off her range and attacking the basket. She is clever moving without the ball knowing how to get open, and she can definitely create her own space with her ball handling. She has a different kind of range on defense as she can handle some opponents on the block battling against them for the better position. She anticipates her opponents’ next moves being able to jump in front of passes to push the other direction.
