In this article we evaluate a handful of players that are going to be interesting to watch over these next few years. Each prospect stands out in some sort of way on the hardwood whenever they lace em up, they just need to figure out how they will fit within their high school system moving forward. Something that is common in this situation.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
When I first saw Da’Nyla Tatum Da’Nyla Tatum 5’6″ | CG TBD | 2028 NE practice and compete, it was eye-opening to say the least. This is a prospect that will be in the conversation for the #1 player out of this 2028 Class if she puts together the type of Freshman year that I think she can. Tatum is a Scoring Guard, that really lives up to the name of her position. She can flat out score the ball. Doesn’t matter if she is attacking the paint, pulling up for a midrange or shooting from distance, if you give her any space she is going to kill you. If you don’t give her space, she will create her own space off the dribble and still kill you. It’s one of those situations where you give her the ball and tell everyone else to get out of the way because she WILL make something happen a majority of the time. Varsity high school ball is a lot different than middle school or AAU ball but I’m expecting the same result. She is going to put this state on notice this upcoming Winter if she gets an opportunity, just watch.
Shayla Rautenberg Shayla Rautenberg 6’1″ | PF Milford | 2028 NE is another prospect out of this State that could be really productive as a Freshman this upcoming Winter season. Rautenberg has the combination that every coach loves. She has height at 6’1, she is athletic, and she understands situational basketball. From what I’ve seen, she is also a competitor on the Track Field, showing off her long distance running ability and endurance. Skill-wise she is still very raw but I think she can still make a difference this season with the size she brings to the floor. I’m not sure if she will be competing in other sports in high school but I would venture to assume so. If she can lock in when it comes to basketball season, I’m sure she is someone that we will hear about more in the near future.
Another intriguing prospect out of the 2028 Class for Nebraska comes to us in the form of Center, Londyn Whitney Londyn Whitney 6’0″ | PF Millard West | 2028 NE . Whitney is someone that towers over most her age at the height of 6’0-6’1 and that’s not all. She is someone that has demonstrated poise, physicality, and an act for being in the right place at the right time for rebounding the basketball on both sides of the floor. Ever since she was in 4th – 5th grade, Whitney has stood out on the basketball court because of her size. She has been taller than average most of her life so the past few seasons, she has really been able to hone in on the skill side of her game. She will be suiting up with the powerhouse that is Millard North for the next four years so I don’t expect her to see the Varsity floor as a Freshman but more-so as a Sophomore.
Aubrey Carder Aubrey Carder 5’5″ | SG Millard South | 2028 NE is someone that I don’t know too much about but what I do know is that she is going to be asked to step up her Freshman year and produce on either the Varsity or JV squad for her Millard South High School team. Carder is a 5’5 SG, with a quick trigger and good decision making skills. When she catches the ball on the perimeter, there is always a chance that the ball is going to go in the hoop if she gets a clean look. From everything I have accounted for, Millard South is going to be losing some production from this past year due to graduation, so there will be opportunites for others to come in and make their presence known almost immediately. I’m not exactly sure what will happen in this situation but if Carder keeps on working hard, she is going to be someone that plays for this Varsity program down the line and I can’t wait to see how that turns out.
