MBA M.D.C. Mystics Select 2028 Review

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2028 Mystics Select team is an extremely talented group of prospects who have looked good at a number of tournaments this spring from across the gym. At the MBA Mother's Day Classic, I finally had the opportunity to see them compete courtside. The competitive character of this team and their unlimited energy really separates them from the teams they compete against. They shift the defense constantly with highly skilled skip passes and extra passes to create open shots. The girls want to win every 50/50 ball no matter what the score is and are determined to win every play. Mystics Select turns teams over by communicating verbally on defense and applying pressure from sideline to sideline. They have downhill drivers, shooters, and interior prospects. A funny moment I recall from yesterday was when different point guards would call out the play "Mystic" and then blow by their defender for a layup. I'm still not sure what the set looks like, but keeping running that play Coach! She disrupted passing lanes causing many deflections, steals, and then converted them into buckets for her team. She froze her defender with a stutter dribble, jab, and then blew by her for a layup. I saw Emersen bury at least six 3's in two games from different spots; she was on fire. She converted many hard drives at the rim and worked hard to cut off ball handlers on defense. She talks often and loudly with her teammates and caused turnovers with her aggressiveness on the ball. Kaiya sees the floor well and made an impressive left-handed lead pass assist in transition to a teammate. She quickly drives and moves the defense off the dribble, but keeps her eyes peeled to find open teammates for kick outs. Layla has the skills to dish accurate one handed passes and long tosses across the court. She pressures ball handlers and showed her outside range by drilling a wing 3. Emma demonstrated her multi-level scoring abilities by drilling a wing 3 and freezing her defender with a hesi then driving left to score at the rim.
