PGH Freshman Showcase: Team 7 Evaluations

The 2029 Freshman Showcase brought together 93 rising prospects on August 30th, 2025, for a jam-packed four hours of high-level competition. The event featured a mix of predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups, allowing players to showcase their skills in various game settings. One of the things that sets Prep Girls Hoops showcases apart is that every participant receives individual write-ups — a rare and valuable opportunity for these young athletes. My coverage focused on Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10. Below are some standout highlights and evaluations for each player from Team 7!    Savannah showed off a smooth shooting stroke for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, with a quick release that made her a threat on the perimeter. She also made a key defensive play, grabbing a steal and using sharp crossover moves to push the ball in transition. She capped it off by delivering a well-timed pass to set up a teammate for an easy score.     Millie brought grit and toughness to the point guard spot for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, making her presence known on the defensive end with scrappy play. She picked off an inbound pass and turned it into a quick bucket, showing her alertness and hustle. Offensively, she had a smooth touch with a reliable floater and mid-range jumper that kept defenders off balance.     Delaney was a top performer for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, going on an impressive scoring run during the 3v3 session and showing her ability to take over a game. She handled the ball with poise, creating space and opportunities for herself. Her shooting was a highlight, as she knocked down multiple threes throughout the day with confidence and consistency.     Lili played with confidence and aggressiveness for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, consistently slashing to the basket and putting pressure on the defense. She wasn't afraid to attack through contact, finishing strong or drawing fouls in the lane. On the other end, she brought grit and intensity as a defender, staying active and making things difficult for opposing guards.     Gabbi brought hustle and determination to Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, especially on the offensive glass where she secured rebounds and turned them into second-chance points. She sprinted the floor in transition, creating easy scoring opportunities with her effort. During the 3v3 session, she played with toughness and rhythm, knocking down shots and staying aggressive on both ends.     Zhoie was a top performer for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, showing great control and balance as she attacked the basket. As a point guard, she consistently broke down the defense, using a variety of finishes at the rim—including a smooth inside-hand layup—and made smart reads when drawing multiple defenders. Her ability to create for herself and set up teammates made her a constant threat on the floor.     Sydney brought great tempo to Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, quickly turning defensive rebounds into fast-break opportunities with strong outlet passes. She read the floor well in transition and made smart decisions with the ball. Around the rim, she didn't shy away from contact, finishing through defenders with toughness and control.     Jenna was a top performer for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, standing out with her two-way impact. As a guard, she applied strong defensive pressure, quickly turned stops into fast-break opportunities, and consistently made smart decisions with the ball. She also showed her shooting range, knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc with confidence.     Kayleanna (KC) showcased her length and athleticism for Team 7 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, consistently making sharp, ahead-of-the-break passes to ignite the offense off defensive rebounds. A standout moment came when she drained a clutch buzzer-beater three from the top of the key, electrifying her team and the crowd. Her playmaking and confidence made her a key contributor throughout the day.
