The 2029 Freshman Showcase was loaded, with 93 prospects taking the court on August 30th, 2025. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Let's talk about media exposure. There have been thousands of views on X of coverage provided by our scouts during the event, and our written articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant will receive a write-up in our articles, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. My coverage focused primarily on teams 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. Here are a few highlights for each player from Team 5 below!

Brianna is a quick and shifty court general who looks ready to have a breakout freshman season for Durand. She was an effective facilitator for Team 5 at the Freshman Showcase. Brianna penetrated gaps with her fast dribbles and made smart decisions with the ball. She chased down the ball from behind and poked it out to create a steal. Brianna demonstrated excellent helpside awareness on defense and communicated actively with teammates. She shot the ball confidently from three-point range, including a volleyball line bomb. Brianna fired passes to open teammates, and her competitiveness energized the team.

Brea was a sparkplug for Team 5 at the Freshman Showcase. She snagged a defensive rebound and pushed the ball with pace the other way using both hands. Brea sprinted inside to secure multiple offensive rebounds and scored a put-back off two feet. She hustled to save a loose ball going out of bounds and added another layup off two feet. Brea tied up the ball on defense and is going to be a guard to watch for St. Clair over the next four years.

Nyahana gave Team 5 a boost with her aggressive style and athletic playmaking at the Freshman Showcase. She attacked downhill with a quick crossover, then switched hands to protect the ball and score a tough layup off two feet. Nyahana picked off a pass and took it the other way with a burst to score a layup in transition. She split defenders to score another layup on a middle drive and finished a bunny off two feet. Nyahana is going to be a great addition to the Holt basketball program.

Riley competed with a high motor for Team 5 and was impactful on both ends at the Freshman Showcase. She moved her feet quickly to stop drives and made ball-handlers uncomfortable with her pressure. She showed her three-point range, burying a corner three and a triple up top with confidence. Riley worked hard to keep inside positioning on defense and forced a miss without fouling. She hustled to secure rebounds and handled the ball with poise. Riley swiped the ball away on defense and made a crisp pass to a teammate for the assist. Her physicality, effort, and style of play are going to make her a very productive player for East Lansing.

Ava has the potential to be a very impactful post player at the high school level, and she had a solid day for Team 5 at the Freshman Showcase. Ava secured defensive rebounds with intensity and presented teammates with an open target to feed her the rock around the basket. Ava outworked a defender for an offensive rebound and earned a trip to the free throw line, knocking down her shot from the charity stripe. Ava caught a high pass, took one dribble middle, and converted a tough floater over her defender. She's going to be a valuable addition to Harper Woods this winter.

Olivia contributed in every category for Team 5 at the Freshman Showcase. Her active hands and ball-pressure created steals on defense, while her hustle also resulted in many rebounds. Olivia dished out several assists and was an excellent facilitator. She penetrated gaps, forced the help to come, and threaded the needle to open teammates. Olivia dropped in floaters with a soft touch and finished with strength through contact. She's going to be an outstanding point guard for the Trojans, and I'm excited to see her make an immediate impact this winter.

Emylia is a promising guard who had a productive day for Team 5 at the Freshman Showcase. She handled the ball confidently with both hands and scanned the floor to find open teammates. Emylia shot the ball with balance off the catch and buried multiple jumpers from downtown. She threw a pass on a rope to an open teammate in the corner for the assist and showed good box-out instincts when shots went up on the defensive end. She'll be an excellent addition to the Powers Catholic program this winter.

Reese is an athletic prospect with a variety of skills that make her a difference maker on the court. During 3v3, she swished a wing three and maintained excellent defensive position without fouling. Reese continued to make an impact for Team 5 during 5v5 games. She made smart back-door cuts from the perimeter, caught a pass with soft hands, and finished off two feet. Reese secured rebounds on both ends and set screens to create open looks for shooters. She's going to be an important contributor for the defending state champs this winter.

Evelyn had a monster performance at SkillCase last weekend, and she had another solid showing at the Freshman Showcase. Evelyn was electric during 3v3, Danyle described her as "unguardable," and she converted some seriously tough layups. Evelyn was an impact player for Team 5 during 5v5. She buried multiple three-pointers, crashed the boards hard to secure rebounds, drove hard downhill to cause fouls, and scored layups. Evelyn scanned the court in transition while pushing the ball with both hands, and is going to be an exciting playmaker to watch this winter with Country Day.
