PGH Freshman Showcase: Team 9 Evaluations

The 2029 Freshman Showcase brought together 93 rising prospects on August 30th, 2025, for a jam-packed four hours of high-level competition. The event featured a mix of predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups, allowing players to showcase their skills in various game settings. One of the things that sets Prep Girls Hoops showcases apart is that every participant receives individual write-ups — a rare and valuable opportunity for these young athletes. Imani brought nonstop energy to Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, setting the tone with her hustle and competitive edge. As a point guard, she was relentless on the offensive glass, creating extra chances for her team. She also stretched the floor effectively, knocking down multiple threes with confidence.     Raina ran the show for Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase with a smooth, composed style that made everything look easy. She excelled in transition, delivering precise passes on the move and turning defense into offense with a pair of coast-to-coast finishes off steals. Raina also showed her range by confidently knocking down a three.     Cevanna brought athleticism and intensity to Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, standing out with her bounce and aggressive style of play. Defensively, she had quick hands and stayed active in passing lanes, causing problems for opposing ball handlers. Her explosive first step allowed her to attack the rim with purpose and keep defenders on their heels.     Izzy was a top performer for Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, showcasing a high basketball IQ and maturity well beyond her years at the point guard position. She used a smooth spin move to shake defenders and finished at the rim with a variety of touch shots, including a polished floater. Izzy also displayed excellent body control and active hands on defense, making plays on both ends of the floor.     Sicily brought energy and leadership to Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, constantly communicating and keeping her teammates locked in on the defensive end. She had active hands that led to tie-ups and disrupted offensive flow. On the boards, she crashed hard on both ends, showing toughness and a willingness to do the dirty work.     Charley made her presence felt for Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase with relentless effort on the boards, especially on the offensive end where she created second-chance opportunities. She played with toughness around the rim and wasn't afraid to mix it up inside. One of her standout moments came on defense, when she came up with a huge block in transition to stop a fast break.     Avery made a defensive impact for Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase with her quick hands and relentless motor. She was constantly getting deflections and jumping passing lanes, disrupting the flow of the opposing offense. Her hustle stood out, as she wasn't afraid to hit the floor for loose balls and make the extra effort play.     Katie used her length effectively for Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, disrupting plays with deflections and blocking shots around the rim. She finished strong inside with good footwork and touch, while also showing her versatility by stepping out and knocking down a three. Her ability to contribute in multiple ways made her a valuable presence on both ends of the floor.     Alayna was a defensive spark for Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, using her quick hands to swipe steals and apply constant pressure on the ball. She showed great timing and instincts, picking pockets with ease and making ball handlers uncomfortable. Her tenacity on defense set the tone for her team.     Evi brought grit and discipline to Team 9 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, standing out with her scrappy defensive effort. She consistently nailed her closeouts, applying pressure without fouling, and was reliable on the glass by staying committed to her boxouts. Her attention to detail and effort made her a key contributor on the defensive end.
