PGH Freshman Showcase: Team 10 Evaluations

The 2029 Freshman Showcase brought together 93 rising prospects on August 30th, 2025, for a jam-packed four hours of high-level competition. The event featured a mix of predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups, allowing players to showcase their skills in various game settings. One of the things that sets Prep Girls Hoops showcases apart is that every participant receives individual write-ups — a rare and valuable opportunity for these young athletes. My coverage focused on Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10. Below are some standout highlights and evaluations for each player from Team 10!    Amicka, a quick and energetic guard for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, consistently pushed the tempo and kept the defense on its heels. She was active on the defensive end, picking pockets and turning steals into transition opportunities. Offensively, she showed scoring versatility, knocking down shots from mid-range and beyond the arc with confidence.     Lillianne showed great control and creativity for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, skillfully weaving her way through traffic to break down the defense. She made sharp reads in the pick-and-roll, delivering well-placed passes to her teammates in scoring position. On the defensive end, she added to her impact by picking off a few steals with quick hands and awareness.     Mo'Riyah was a top performer for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, running the point with poise and precision. She delivered sharp post entry passes and used a slick crossover to shake defenders and get into the lane. Whether it was a smooth inside-hand finish at the rim or a confident pull-up jumper, she showed she could score in a variety of ways.     Grace brought effort and toughness to Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, making her presence felt on both ends of the floor. She came up with a big-time block on the perimeter and battled hard for offensive rebounds, creating second-chance opportunities. In the lane, she finished well through traffic, showing touch and control around the rim.     Malena made a strong impact for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, using her length effectively on the defensive end to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes. She stayed active on the boards, working hard to secure rebounds on both ends of the floor. Her combination of size, effort, and defensive presence gave her team a steady boost throughout the day.     Taylor was a top performer for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, lighting it up from beyond the arc—I lost count of how many threes she knocked down, but it was a lot. She has a quick release and a smooth step-back that created space for her all day. On top of her scoring, she showed sharp vision in transition and active hands on defense, collecting multiple steals.     Gabby was a top performer for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, dominating the paint with her strength, touch, and presence around the rim. She showed great hands and footwork in the post, finishing consistently through traffic. Defensively, she protected the rim with multiple blocks and controlled the boards on both ends, owning the glass throughout the day.     This was my first time ever seeing Makayla play, and she impressed with her potential while competing for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase. She's a strong post who can step out and knock down shots, showing solid range with both her mid-range jumper and outside stroke. Makayla also played with great effort, diving on the floor for loose balls and staying active throughout the day.     Ani contributed solid scoring for Team 10 at the PGH Freshman Showcase, showing she could put points on the board in multiple ways. As a guard, she knocked down shots from beyond the arc and found her rhythm in the mid-range as well. Her ability to score from different spots on the floor made her a reliable offensive option throughout the day.
