Class of 2028 Updated COLLEGE Prospect Rankings: Guards To Follow

The updated <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/illinois/rankings/2028-watch-list/">2028 College Prospect Rankings</a> are here, and this class is still taking shape. With this group being younger, these rankings lean more toward physical attributes and long-term projection than polished skill sets. Size, athleticism, and positional tools carry more weight right now, since there's still plenty of time for players to grow and refine their overall game.   These are COLLEGE prospect rankings, meaning OFFICIAL OFFERS play a major role in player movement. D1 and D2 offers typically place players near the top, while D3, NAIA, and JUCO prospects will be listed further down the list.   High school or AAU accolades and stats don't hold much weight, as competition levels differ between seasons. What matters most is how each player projects at the next level... factors like length, speed, athletic upside, versatility, and positional fit stand out most in this stage of evaluation.   At this point, it's starting to become clear which players are ahead of the curve physically and which ones are still developing into their college potential. The Watch List features a solid mix of D2/D3 to JUCO-level prospects still being closely evaluated as they continue to grow.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Below are a couple of prospects at the guard (Point, Combo, and Shooting) spot that could be notable players to keep an eye on.</h2>    The offers rolled in this summer, and I don't believe they'll slow down at all. Keniya is one of those prospects where you see how hard she plays even before you notice the skillset, and then when you dissect her skillset, you realize her potential is sky high. She has the length, the energy, and the mindset to control a game on both sides of the ball.. and when you make your mark on the boards too, it also shows how hard you're willing to play to win. This kid has that attitude and that drive to be great.     Williams plays this game with absolute confidence, and offensively, she can get it going from almost anywhere on the court. She has a sharp handle, twitchy moves, and she's always looking to attack downhill, not dribbling east to west. On the defensive side of the ball, she's aware, pesky, and can hold her own with high-intensity guards. HF will be competitive again this year, and Williams will be one of the main focal points for pulling in those wins.     Hughes has had a strong past couple of months and has been standing out at every event she attends. Matching that up with a strong travel ball season, it's not hard to see that she's getting better, and her stock as a prospect is going upwards as well. Definitely a player that could find themselves on an all-state team this year.     Williams will be in the running for a lot of individual awards this year, but that'll come second to the wins this program will stack up with what she brings to the game. Offensively, she can be effective at all levels, with and without the ball. Defensively, her length and athleticism will definitely play a part in her slowing matchups down or messing up a team's offense.     What Yanni will continue to bring to Whitney Young is relentlessness on both ends of the floor. She's a player who can score in bunches while being impactful on the boards, and there are many possessions where she plays like the biggest on the court. Defensively, she'll put pressure on all of her matchups.
