Headliners Invitational Cheat Sheet: Forwards

The Headliners Invitational Showcase was a groundbreaking experience in 2023--it's back and better than ever. My definition of a prospective showcase includes three elements: 1) College caliber players, 2) College Coaches, and 3) Media Exposure from a respected source in the high schools girls basketball recruiting arena. The Headliners Invitational checks all three boxes and then some. 19 colleges from D2, D3, NAIA, NCCAA, and JUCO college programs in Michigan have pre-registered to recruit at this [program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball'] Showcase. College coaches who have pre-registered to attend the event will be provided a hard copy recruiting packet with all the information necessary to evaluate during the event and contact prospects afterwards. The event format is EXACTLY what I believe needs to be present to 1) Thoroughly evaluate a prospect, 2) Fully demonstrate a prospects recruitable qualities, and 3) Cultivate a connection with college coaches. Everything about this showcase is intentional and nothing is being done in a haphazard manner. College coaches will lead prospects during the skill stations and coach the players during games. Maximum ball touches have been built into this event through stations, 3v3, and 5v5 play. There will be a Headliners Invitational MVP selected for both sessions and FREE access to film following the event on SnipBack. The anticipation is building, so...without further ado, let's take a sneak peak at some of the top forward prospects competing during session one at the [program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball'] "Headliners Invitational Showcase"!    Layne is one of the notable 2026 prospects competing at the Headliners Invitational--she'll be one of the best forward prospects in the gym. Layne has multiple D3 options heading into the showcase and it was her outstanding play at Northwood Team Camp that solidified her as a top 100 prospect in the class. She has great hands and finishing touch around the rim. Layne uses her length and instincts to excel on both ends--I expect her to have a big day.     Spencer is coming into the Headliners Invitational full of confidence. She's done well in these showcase formats and has moved into the top 100 by consistently demonstrating next-level qualities in front of our scouts. Spencer lives in the gym and works hard in the weight room. She plays hard on both ends, finishes inside, pursues rebounds, and has a good pull-up jumper. She picked up an offer from Alma in September and is a versatile stretch forward who should draw attention on Sunday.     Sophie is the type of prospect the Headliners Invitational was designed for. A forward who is being under recruited that will have the ball touches in drills and games in front of college coaches to make a splash. She's a double-double machine and all-around impact player for Au-Gres Sims. Sophie averaged 13.6 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game as a sophomore. I'm excited to see her in the gym on Sunday.     It became clear during the PGH Freshman Showcase that Charlee is going to be an immediate impact player for Saugatuck as a freshman. She's already capable of mixing it up inside with a strong and physical foundation. Charlee finishes well around the basket and is very effective as a rebounder. She's going to give the upper classmen all they can handle at the Headliners Invitational on Sunday.     Peyton had a solid travel season for [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'] and she'll be a forward prospect to pay attention to this Sunday at the Headliners Invitational. Peyton is a physical and determined rebounder who has the strength to score through contact around the basket. Her hustle, two-way impact, and length should catch the attention of college coaches evaluating at the showcase.     Leigha turned in a PGH Expo First Team All-Showcase performance, which automatically establishes her as a potential MVP candidate going into the Headliners Invitational. Leigha has the qualities a forward needs to play college level basketball--competitive, a high motor, physical, strong, finishes around the basket, rim protector, determined rebounder, and good instincts. She'll be one of the highest ranked forward prospects in the gym and I'm excited to see her compete on Sunday.     Kyra will be towering over every prospect in the gym at the Headliners Invitational--she has length to spare at 6-foot 4! Kyra performed at a high level for MBA UAA during the travel season and picked up an offer from Hope in September. She finishes well with both hands, extends her range to drain shots from the perimeter, protects the rim, rebounds, and plays effectively off two feet. Kyra has the fundamental skills and height needed to be an excellent addition to a college program. I can't wait to see her compete on Sunday.
